    Hi

In my book early Maserati fitted 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/1431/s/185vr16-pirelli-cinturato-ca67/category/2627/

Then they moved on to 205VR15 Pirelli Cinturato CN72 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/205vr15-pirelli-cinturato-cn72.html

So cars like the Mistral started off with 16" wheels and then moved onto 15" tyres about 1964 so they could fit the 205VR15 Pirelli Cinturato CN72, because at the time it was the largest tyre that cars of this sort of power could handle (which is why Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, ISO fitted the same tyre)

70% profile tyres came out in 68, and tyres like the Michelin XWX https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/michelin-classic-tyres/michelin-xwx.html and Pirelli's Cinturato CN36 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirelli-cinturato/cn36.html were available. But i don't think Maserati really embraced this technology until 1972.

For instance the Ghibli fitted 205VR15 Cinturato CN72, In an American book it lists that untill 72 and then another 1972 fitment guide i have lists in 72 that GR/70R15 was an option.

In 1971 Pirelli developed the CN12 and i think this is what Maserati fitted https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/1463/s/215-70wr15-pirelli-cinturato-cn12/category/2605/

I know for ages we have just seen XWX tyres on these cars, b ut that is because it has been the only thing available for years. and without doubt they are great. I just wondered if you guys know what was original from Maserati. id love it if people could post some pictorial evidence as well that i could use on my web site.

I don't have an angle, They are both brilliant tyres. i sell both i would just like to get my facts as straight as possible. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

ChemChina owns 40% of Pirell and I would not put them on my F-car.

Hey---Running your CN12 215 VRs (non DOT for lay people) on the Bora for about a year.
Light years ahead of the 4000 in comfort and on a par if not better than the XWXs on performance.
Just came home from a 2 hr+ drive averaging over 130 mph.
Bora really appreciates the cooler weather.

    Great tyres. Worth every cent.
Delivered via courier, included in price.

    Thank you Longstone.

    PS
My Bora left VCM in July 1972 with XWXs.
Build sheet shows CN12s offered as an option; which was not exercised.
I am the second owner of the car.

    Thanks.
