I'm on the sidelines hoping the prices dip a little more.
they are certainly dropping. The dealers I am speaking with are seeing more pressure on them as they now have many 812's on the floor. They see them as 2nd generation and have commented on how many are on the market. Once the 812'***** the market it started a more swift market. The 812's are also showing up in force for sale.
I just bought a high spec 2015 with an MSRP in the 4s (I'm assuming here- it's CdF, carbon fiber driver's zone, CF headlight buckets, CF front splitter, racing seats, hi fi, lift, upgraded split spoke wheels, etc., so it's got a number of upgrades/options over the 380-390 MSRP cars at which I had looked). 6k miles. Clean PPI, save for the galvanic corrosion mesh issue, which is being remedied. Fresh tires with less than 1000 miles, freshly serviced, and some sort of upgraded aftermarket exhaust (which I don't really need or necessarily even want) that supposedly makes the car sound even better. I paid $255k, *with* the factory-remedied mesh issue addressed and with 2 new meshes (@ $10k repair per Ferrari). I think I overpaid some, which is not my natural inclination .... I thought I had a deal that was going to happen on a 2015 with miles> 4k in the low 230s, but I couldn't find out if I could get the (L) CF racing seats in the car in time to consummate the deal. Given the high spec and the now-addressed mesh issue, the 'right' price for what I bought should have started with a '24___'. I'm normally very patient, and rarely overpay for anything, but I guess I had all the juices flowing in anticipation of the other deal coming to fruition and when the rug got pulled out from underneath me on that one, I just broke my disciplined approach ... ....oh, and guess how much it's costing me to have the aero bridges with the shields removed and replaced with the fairings sans shields ? $5k !!!!!!! .....$1200 would be a LOT..... Regards Mike
Sounds like a better deal than the car I'm considering, which gives me hope because I'm really not ready yet. I really would love to see your spec, if your deal is done could you post dealer pics? Or at least what color combo. Regardless, congrats!
Deal is 'done' in that the selling dealer has cashed the checks, but I'll not have the car for another 2 weeks or so, as FoL is waiting for the non-Scuderia shield fairings to come in. Pics are no longer up on dealer site, but I'll see if I can get them for you; the car is Canna di Fucile over cuoio. Mike
One more data point. A friend of mine was at the Manheim auction today. He sent me a pic of a Bianco Avus 2016 with @9xxx miles. Car was bid up to 215k, but no-saled; dealer indicated that he'd accept 220k. Sorry, I do not know the options, MSRP, or how high a spec the car was. Mike
The market seems to be moving faster and with winter here along with the 812’s moving into the market it effects the F12’s
You’ll see the F12’s bottom out in December/January IMO. With winter coming and 812’s landing fast, that value will likely move swiftly. I bought my ‘14 F12 in November of last year with 4K on the clock for $270k...highly optioned car with a $430k sticker. No doubt the market has adjusted since my purchase, but it was a four year old car at the time of purchase. I expected it. The car is so good that I honestly don’t see myself wanting to get rid of it for anything short of a TDF. That is 4x the cost with lots more to lose as it racks up miles, but we will see what values look like in a few years with a likely downturn in the economy and the 812 race version soon to be released at that point. I added a ‘13 458 Spider to the stable in July because I feel like they’re just about bottomed out. It was the right spec and definitely the right price! F12 values will be interesting over the next 12-18 months. I like the cleaner lines vs. the 812, but the 812 will be the last N/A V12. I’m honestly more intrigued to watch the 812 market over the next 2-3 years to see how people respond to it being the last N/A V12. That response will drive the F12 values a bit since many will be dumping them to upgrade. It goes without saying that the race version 812 will be the most sought after, especially if it’s a limited production run like the TDF. I love watching the various markets. One thing I do know for sure is I’m going to be ready to make a grab for a few specific models whenever the economy does turn again!
Mike Congrats on the car. As we discussed I am in awe or your search and negotiate skills. I know one of your strengths is patience and the ability to walk away. I have been told that dealers cannot sell warranty to non original owner for a car not sold through Ferrari network ? Perhaps @SAFE4NOW can clarify? Scott Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats on your new to you F12! Ferrari Dealerships CAN offer Warranty Extensions* as well as New Power Warranty on a year to year basis on ANY Ferrari 15 years** or newer that have had the required inspection*** performed and proper service history can be confirmed ( or at minimum brought up to date ) * ONLY for Ferrari still under the 3 year factory warranty period ** 15 years from original delivery date *** And the Ferrari meets the requirements S
Well thanks for the kind words, but as I let emotion get involved, my usually-reliable negotiating skills were mediocre at best in this deal, and my ‘walk away’ skills were effectively non existent .... I think it was the combination of the CdF paint and the L CF racing seats that got me I responded to your pm- good luck ! Mike
Undecided. PPI and compression tests were clear. I don't tend to keep cars for very long. No matter how happy with this f12 i am today I know that I will want something else in 6 months. SO I don't know if I will bother w the warranty.

The warranty is transferable if you did decide to sell privately. I am so glad for this thread , I have now gotten over my desire for a particular car that is considerably more , albeit pristine, low miles and highly optioned. I'm going to wait.
I don't like the shields either on the f12, and was also thinking about having the aero bridges replaced. But then it occured to me that the paint might not match. It's one thing to have the lower front lip spoiler painted from black to Rosso Berlinetta, which I did (and looks great!) , but I thought it was too risky to have the aero bridges replaced on a 2013-2015 car. The sun can fade a paint job more than you think, or the factory can slightly change the pigment of the paint. I decided not to do it. The cure might be worse than the disease, as they say.
Yes, I did think of that, but I have a lot of confidence in the paint guy at FoL. I'd like the shields more if their particular shade of yellow matched the wheel caps and brake calipers, but all 3 are a different shade of yellow, which I just can't do. I'll post pics when received. Mike
Hi Mike I think everyone would be interested as this is a wide known issue, if the "meshes" were replaced. Were they new Ferrari meshes - and if so can you please find out the new part number as that would be very helpful, or were the old meshes reinstated? Thanks.
Aaarrrgghhhhhhh........talked to Caesar at FoL today. The fairings (aero bridges) are in, but meshes not expected until late next week. At this rate, I’ll be lucky to have the car by Halloween ... Will post part number when I get car and paperwork. Mike
Mike, In you research do you know whether the mesh issue is equally throughout all years or did they change the mesh later? Sorry to hear your car won’t be there till Halloween I hope you get some driving in before the winter weather sets in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Sorry- I dont know. One would think that, being that the issue was discovered intra-run, Ferrari would have corrected the issue on the later ('16- forward) cars ..... ...but one would also think that Ferrari's engineers would have taken galvanic corrosion into consideration when building a car, sooooooo.....
