Good morning Guys. I have heard from a reliable source, that there are 2 new "country club" race tracks opening in FL. From what I heard, 1 is near Opa Locka but don't know the 2nd location. Do you have any idea or heard anything about this?

Paulie, the Concours Club is the track that is completed adjacent to the Opa Locka airport. The Concours
Club is going to be the starting point for a rally of participating cars heading to the Bal Harbour Shops
Collector's Weekend event on November 4 and is a spectacular facility.

The other facility, The Drivers Club is in the works, the thread is here in the Florida section about it. To
my knowledge, they've not started building this facility yet (correct me if I'm wrong) and are in the
process of dealing with local authorities as they're using some public money to build the place.

    No problem brother!

Yeah, a few of these country club type tracks popping up around Florida now. Must be
driving the ISC nuts but if the demand is there and someone is willing to put up the money,
    it will continue.

Not long ago, KevFl informed me that a similar type facility is in the works up his way in
    Orlando too.

A parent at my kids school is exploring the idea in the Naples/Ft Myers area. I have heard there is land near the Punta Gorda airport that could work. It will never happen in Collier county/Naples, IMO.

Does Ford still operate a top secret test track outside Naples somewhere?

Seems as though I remember hearing about this some year ago.

    Ah, now it makes sense.

I didn't know there were two. I confused the Concours Club with the other project I read about. My partner mentioned he was approached about a founding membership at the Concours Club and asked me for the inside scoop. Now it makes sense.

Don't tell me Paul you'd actually make the drive down south? I didn't think you crossed the county line. ;)

Your memory is correct. I think it was run by Ford at one point and also by Harley Davidson. I am not sure it still exists. I seem to recall is was more or less a straight line.

The proposed track just outside Orlando died and went to zoning approval hell a few months ago.

    Bummer.

Only if the road is paved with gold bricks and there isn't a cloud in the sky, then maybe!
