so today I fired up the 550 for a drive and got a flickering light and then when to a solid check engine light, car runs fine, nothing looks out of sorts, temp etc.. I haven’t driven the car much since it’s last service. Any ideas on what is causing this, is it safe to drive: thanks

charge the battery is a good place to start, seems battery issues cause many electrical glitches with the 550

Ron is correct. A weak or on its way out battery will often give those symptoms.

Also check for misfires. Blinking CEL going to solid is a strong indicator that not all cylinders are firing correctly (though it could also be a myriad other things). Got an OBDII scanner?

on a second look, it looks like the battery is bad so i'll replace it and see if that's the issue

Take the connectors off of the two thermo couple ecus which are located at the inside of the front fenders. I did this and let the engine idle for 20 minutes and then it dissappeared. And have stayed off.... can’t really tell why but it worked.

Got a obd 2, and presto the check engine light is gone. Must have been the battery.

I keep an OBDII reader in my glove box just for these sort of issues.
