So I guess the 488 will now be the "standard" Ferrari being used most of the time, in situations where the 308 was used in the original series. Could have been worse - they could have switched to Lamborghini, or even Corvette!
Papou, Thanks for posting these scenes! Makes watching the show much more enjoyable as we have kind of a personal contact
It seems like some people don't like it because it isn't like the original. Some said it diverted too much from the original. He won't be using the 308 because it can't catch anything out there today. There are crashes because that's what people want today. Well, can't please everyone. I liked it! The ONLY thing I did not agree with was repairing the 488(458), just buy a new one.
I'd love to sit through a couple of Dr. Weller's classes on Greek and Roman history. Thanks for the info, Papou! You guys selling the film crew shirts?
The original show talked about the Ferrari quite a bit...I wondered about Uber, it was mentioned a few times on each of the first 2 or 3 episodes. I did not know that. It actually makes much more sense...
I just finished the 4th episode last night, and it takes the goofiness of episodes 1-3 and turns it around. I quite enjoyed it. My only gripe with the remake is the obvious - Higgins as a woman. If Magnum so much as kisses her, I'm done.
It has to happen, but not in season one. The entire point of flipping Higgins' gender was to add sexual tension. Moonlighting started this "will they, won't they" trope back in the 80s. I don't agree with it, but we're deep into the rabbit hole on #feminism / #metoo. Expect it to get worse before it gets better. Miami Vice is back next year and I don't expect it to be much better.
Vin Diesel is attached as producer, and it's staying with NBC. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/miami-vice-reboot-vin-diesel-works-at-nbc-1026163 I've got no idea on rides. Reading that Ferrari didn't support Magnum makes me think Vice is not getting a two free Ferrari cars this time around. A Pista makes sense. In white it would be very Testarossa-like. I'm hoping they don't go with a Black Porto because I don't want to be accused of copying them when I'm in the market two years from now. But it IS a very Daytona-like car in form and function. They also don't make a convertible Cadillac so chances are Tubbs will be rolling something in the Bentley range. They gave him a BMW for the 2006 film but it never seemed to fit. Along those lines, it's entirely possible they go away from Ferrari altogether. The F-Type is a sweet ride and would be a fraction of the cost.
I agree, although I still think Magnum was miscast. Not only is this Backstreet Boy not a great actor, his diminutive size reminds me of Roger Moore in some of the later 007 movies fight scenes....he just doesn’t pull it off. Esp the episode where he fights the MMA fighter. The imminent love interest with Higgins is a deal breaker for me, also. her role already makes no sense.
on Magnum: I also just saw Episode 4 last night, was as krazykarguy said quite different than 1 - 3. I liked it, but they drove around mostly in TC's van (I almost thought I was watching the A-Team). On MiamiVice: thanks for the link and the insight Shotgun Styles. Good, means I won;t have to buy back my 88.5 Testarossa. I vote for the Lambo, don't see them on TV too much (I would lend them mine for still shots)
Yeah, but at least the new guy can fit in the car... Image Unavailable, Please Login And this is AFTER they unbolted the seat and moved it back for him.
Image Unavailable, Please Login After seeing that photo, had to post a picture of two of my favorite magnum memorabilia.
Tom is 6'4". No way he'd fit with the t-top on. I know this because I'm 6'2" and barely fit in my 308 with the top on. I almost never drive it that way, so it's a fair weather car only.
If you can find the original first episode, he takes the 308 off the grounds with the top on, then stops outside the gate, unlatches the top and slides it back. We don't know where the top went.
