You can't get the strength or correct finish from 3D printing.

Is there a market for the Vents? To make real moulds

Yes. This part breaks and is NLA. Most 328 owners need one at some point.

The Link,s and Vanes are very easy moulds incl.matching the texture and this is what breaks all the time the rings are ok.what would be a good price for a set ?

Are you considering making them also?
I'm already well into making the molds. See my earlier posts. Production will start 5-JAN.

Falcon, Thanks for posting your pic. It's evident you put a lot of effort into the CAD work for the vent.

I wanted to get a better look at the surface finish, so cropped & 'photoshopped' your 3D printed image to lighten it. You can see what I meant about the surface finish leaving a lot to be desired for a Concours capable part. Of course you could spray it with a high build primer, sand smooth & paint it to get a lot closer.

Which 3D printer did you use?

Was this 'printed' at the highest resolution your 3D printer can do?

Well, I've got to get back to making molds for it.

Ultrasonicly cleaned the parts today to get all traces of handling grime, dust, etc. off. Especially wanted to get it out of the textured surface & hole for the blue dot in the housing.

Will let them dry overnight, then begin on the molds tomorrow AM.

I put back light on this old thread.
Having problem finding some spare parts for my car, I decided to remake some of them. I first did made prototypes with 3D prints but the quality was not fair. Finally I found a manufacturer who works in molding and the quality result is really same as OEM parts.

Find pictures of one of first production : The no longer available air outlet #61738800

Please let me know if one of you are interested

I don't know, since when they are already available, but I can find them in Verell's catalogue.
Either complete or just a repair kit.

I’m sure his will suffice. It depends on to what extent you want to go for originality. I can’t seem to get verrell’s link to work.

Neither do I. But here you go!

Originality doesn't matter if an original part is no more available. And if it comes to plastics or rubber I would always favor a well made repro part compared to a decades old brittle original part. In most cases even overprized.

The most economical and quality result to reproduce those parts is with urethane casting.

In order to do this, an original part is needed. While 3D printing is advancing, surface quality is still nothing like injection mold quality. The best resolution is still stereolithography but using that technology for end use parts is not a good idea as the material continually cure and become brittle.

Here is a video of urethane casting:

Verell's vents are available either as a complete part or a repair kit. See page 21 and 22 of his PDF catalogue.

I promise you that you can't see any difference between the original one. See photo post #60.

I had done one with 3D print. It's look almost good but it doesn't slide well ….

Thanks. I have a 308 GTB. For these the vents are still available at FerrariUK. But mine are still perfect. I always close them when cleaning the windshield :)
I just have the impression, that something like competition between the various 'Unobtanium Manufacturers' arises here on FChat.
    I hope not.
BTW. Mods have a special eye on commercial offerings these days. I have discovered at least two threads which have been closed during the past days because of commercial offers with the hint regarding use of the ads section.

    Best Regards

I understand your point of view but I would like specify that I'm not a manufacturer or professional dealer ( until today !).

As owner I searched solution to find "unobtain parts". After months and several disappointment I decided to make them "by myself". I meet another Ferrari owner who know how to do but the cost is too high just for one part. So I ordered several hoping to find others owners that also need this item.

I still have others projets but I can't ordered dozens parts each time just for me ….

I did Verell. But I also had others projects at the same time and put off this one during few months. Then I meet someone with which we worked well together. Also it was simpler as we are from same country and use same language. No competition or against anyone in that case.

I still have others projects. I will send you the parts number that I looking after.
