Hello F-Chat member's. I am new to the F Chat Forum and need some help finding/locating parts for my 89 testarossa. I did do a search and read thru the cross reference thread(s) but was unable to locate the parts I think I may need online. Engine is F113A040 I was able to find the Durite replacement to the Bosch 0.280.230.006 thru a vendor in UK and have placed an order for this relay. I am trying to find a source for the two other relay's 1. Bosch P/N 0.280.230.012 - Ferrari P/N 617663 - (From what I understand you cannot use a bosch 0.280.230.006 instead of the 012 in the fuse box location). 2. Strobel P/N 928.615.124.00 - Ferrari P/N 61766200 (located in the black triangular box - with a 10amp fuse on top) I appreciate your help in advance. GTTT

The protection relay supercedes to PN 928-615-124-02 (Porsche part #) and you will have to do a bit of rewiring to use the new relay. Pelican parts may have them. Or here http://www.awitalian.com/search.asp?keyword=61766200&search=
That is correct. Both the ...006 and ...012 are tachometric relays, but they are not identical in function. Try taking the "."s out of the Bosch PN in your internet searches -- i.e., search using "Bosch 0280230012". Also, giving the continent where you are located may be helpful for determining who might be a practical source and who would be impractical.
Thank You for sending the link jgmblair, I will re post in the testarossa section and introduce myself. I have not started replacing all of the front fuse panel relays as of yet. I planned on replacing the 2 relays in the triangular box in the right rear fender and the 1 relay in the front fuse box and see if it fixes my starting issue. From my understanding the black box has the relays below; 1. Stribel New P/N 92861512402 with fuse on top 2. bosch 0 280 230 006 - Ferrari part # 124717 - Durite 0-723-42 And the relay in the front fuse box is 0 280 230 012 or Ferrari Part # 617663 (00)
Hi Ferrarioldman I was able to find this part number and ordered PN 928-615-124-02. In the threads I read it did not say anything about re wiring, I assumed it was a direct replacement for the current relay. Can you please send me the link or instructions for the re wiring instructions.

On a TR, it is a direct replacement. On a '84-'85 US 308QV/MondialQV, some female wire terminals need to be moved around in the relay socket.

Hi Guys, So I purchased and received 2 of the 3 relays I was searching for. I have attached a picture of the black box triangular box I removed from the rear fender well and a picture of the 2 relays I have received. Black Box in the rear 1. Stribel 928.615.124.02 - replacement for the existing relay with fuse in the black box 2. - Front Fuse Box 1. Durlite 0-732-42 - replacement for relay behind the fuse box in the front of the car trunk area. I have not been able to locate this relay in the u.s - Bosch 0280230012 or Ferrari Part # 61766300 (item 18 in the 1990 TR SPC Tav 12). Any suggestions? Why do you think you need a new one? The way it works is: When the engine is cold and below ~4000 RPM: pins 15 & 30 = +12V (from the protection relay) pin 31 = ground (from relay A as relay A is closed with cold engine and water thermoswitch closed) pin 1 = a signal from the 1-6 coil below ~4000 RPM then this relay connects pin 87 to pin 30 = pin 87 at +12V = air pump clutch "on" = air injection "on" When the engine is cold and above ~4000 RPM: pins 15 & 30 = +12V (from the protection relay) pin 31 = ground (from relay A as relay A is closed with cold engine and water thermoswitch closed) pin 1 = a signal from the 1-6 coil above ~4000 RPM pin 87 not connected to pin 30 = pin 87 at 0V = air pump clutch "off" = air injection "off" When the engine is warm (at any RPM): pins 15 & 30 = +12V (from the protection relay) pin 31 = open, not connected to anything (as relay A is not closed with warm engine and water thermoswitch open) pin 1 = a signal from the 1-6 coil (but doesn't matter what RPM) pin 87 not connected to pin 30 = pin 87 at 0V = air pump clutch "off" = air injection "off" The only way that this relay could cause a noticeable operational problem was if it failed in a way that terminal 87 was always connected to terminal 30 (which would turn the air injection system "on" during warm running and confuse the Lambda system). Is that's what's happening, or was it completely missing, or are you're just being super-conservative and trying to replace them all, or something else? If you still have the old one, my advice would be to measure the voltage between pin 87 and pin 31 when the running engine is cold (should be +12V) and warm (should be 0V). If it meets those conditions, it's basically working (and you should never go above 4000 RPM with a cold engine anyway ). If you don't have one at all, it would be possible to replace it with a ...113 relay to give the correct operation cold below 4000 RPM and when warm (but not give the correct operation cold when above 4000 RPM) -- give a shout if you need a rewiring diagram for that.
Hi Steve, I was just being super-conservative, and I wanted to have all three relays in hand for when I had a chance to work on the car.
I was able to fix the issue! After further inspection, I noticed the relay with the fuse in the black box seemed to have a little wiggle or play when I would apply slight pressure to the relay or move the black box around. It seemed like the prongs of the relay where not holding it in place. Possibly causing a loose connection? So, I decided to replace that relay with the new Stribel 928.615.124.02 and Immediately I could tell the new relay fit more securely into the female plug. I also placed some standoffs under the back side of the relay to help hold it in place securely. I checked all the connections and put the cover back on. Re-installed the black box into the car and the car started right up on the first try!! I'm excited to have the Testarossa is running again! I would like to thank Steve and all the Ferrari Chat forum members for their input and help with my questions! GTTT
