tubi?
I just put on a superformance UK on my 308GTB love it ,it sounds right like it should. I had to change the muffler mount but that was not a problem.
The pops and crackles come more from an adjustment of the carbs than the exhaust that you select. You need a good carb guy!
You should be looking for an Ansa model FE 2020. The model number was applied at the factory onto a plate which was tack welded to the muffler (see picture), and if I were you I would have the seller send you a picture of this plate before you spend money. I have an old Ansa catalog, so I can check the fitment for you based upon the model number (all Ferrari model numbers have "FE" as the first part, as shown above). Here's my Ansa FE 2660, for reference. Bought it NOS for cheap because of the chipped paint. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have an ANSA on mine as well and love it. Be prepared to do some modifications (cutting and welding) to make it fit just right, especially if your car is early.
Custom stainless system after stripping the insulation off the headers and ceramic coating them. Half the price of a branded system, and sounds like Armageddon.
If you want the best exhaust, meybe the right choice is Tubi Style If you want the car OEM, go for this one if with cat http://www.classiche09.com/prodotto/ferrari-308-gtb-74-79-usa-model/ or this other if without cat http://www.classiche09.com/prodotto/ferrari-308-gtb-gts-75-81-2/ ciao
But do the Non-Cat USA cars have headers indeed? Euro cars, which do not have cats, do not have "headers" either, but "apparent individual pipes", what the brits usually call "extractor manifolds"; without headers, there is no insulation to be stripped... Rgds
The oringinal Ansa on my '77 gave out last year, and I went with a new Tubi. I must say that I loved it. I felt it improved the whole experience of the car.
Not sure where you are Chas but I have a spare stainless Borla in London. It doesn't have the longer right side pipe going to the front bank but an extension could easily be made if needed. I fitted my Ansa as I was short of time at the end and it had the long right side pipe.
maybe you choose the loudest of the two version available: there are two versions and one is not too loud ciao
