I bought a 2013 458 spider with 72,356 miles and a salavage title. No frame damage. Car looks amazing and performs amazing. What is considered to high of a price to pay? I paid $96,000.00 did i do good or bad? Thoughts!!!

I think you will only be able to answer that question when you go to sell it. Congrats on your new rig and all the best Kirk.

At that price you can drive the **** out of it and still sell it for $60k to $70k down the road assuming it is in decent shape. A rental company would probably be interested when the time comes.

That’s the plan! I put to many miles on my 430 and paid the price in depreciation

I’m just curious if there’s any reason to be concerned about the mileage on a 458 or if they’re reliable this high. I’ve seen a handful at the 120k mile range online with original motor so that’s where my question is. Not so much as to if i got a good deal or not but what are pros and cons of what i did

Congratulations!! Just drive the thing and enjoy!!! As other pointed out, you'll still be able to sell after a few years and recoup much of your money and still have the time of your life!! Say you put another 50k on her in 5 years, you can definitely sell for at least 50k.

That's the level of depreciation you would expect say if you bought a brand new AMG or M car.

Have fun and drive in good health!

Ya, tbh, the salvage title may the bigger complication than the mileage.
That combination is pretty unusual with these cars, maybe it was a rental? not a lot of comparables to say if you paid a good price or not.
You went with your gut so stick with it.
As others said, its done anyway.

This. What was the cause of the salvage? There can be lots more than frame damage. Was there a fire? Flood damage? Major body damage?

So long as the car is safe, I say drive the heck out of it!

Does not seem like anywhere near enough damage to merit a salvage title, in my opinion

That’s an all too common phenomenon with exotics, doesn’t seem to take as much as one would think to total them.

More common than you think. Especially when the interior gets hacked. My best friend ‘s father is an insurance agent and told me about a 911 that had the seats and dash trashed by the owners’s ex. Outside, motor, structurally, perfect. But the cost to repair the interior made it a write off.

Is it insurable with a salvage title?

Well, after “salvage”title, once repaired and inspected it gets designated as “rebuilt “. At least up here anyway. And yes, insurance doesn’t care at that point, it’s been deemed fit for the road again.
Up here insurance will take your money for anything . What happens when you make a claim is another story.

    A good deal is subjective.

Look at some for sale ads, factor in a bit of haggling, and decide if the compromises in title and mileage ie resale value, justify your expense/savings.
Only you can know. And the longer you own the car, IMO the less of a factor it ends up being.
It’s nice to own a pristine, gently used example. But at the same time, I think parking a lot of cash in a mass produced car in the hopes of recouping some of it years later at resale, may not be the best use of money. Each their own.

Seems about right, right? Salvage 458 with 72k miles for 95 k. Great deal for a driver. Doesn't seem far fetched to me.

That's a great deal. A car, that looks and drives just like any other 458 Spider, but for a silly money - can't be better than that really.
