The Range Rover was launched 48 years ago, it was a sensation, an original and they could not be built fast enough. Enzo Ferrari DID NOT build a version.

But the 1970 Range Rover was as desirable as a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow parked on the street outside your London house. It gave the impression that you were heading off at the weekend to your country pile ..............

Aspirational - everybody wanted one. Enzo Ferrari did not build one.

You cannot be serious here. How many SUV's are made today versus 48 years ago?

I'm guessing every police department in America is switching to them now. They have replaced the family sedan. In fact Ford is dropping sedans entirely for SUV's and Trucks.

I don't mind a reasonable argument but lets be reasonable.

Enzo didn’t build family sedans. He built GT’s which had valid place in the culture of the time, before air travel. They were glamourous and drivers cars.

Thé SUV is not. By the way, although many here who are anti SUV, dislike the FF, I like it. But an SUV - compromised and so far always worse than the alternative.

I don’t regard the Range Rover as an SUV, it’s the real thing. A valid design. But it’s important to note that Spen King regretted its influence on the market.

Well I guess this makes sense if Ferrari just wants to be another "me to" company following the pack of all other auto manufactures. While the FF/Lusso doesn't sell all that well in the US it seems to sell pretty well in the EU and other places. It is still hard for me to wrap my head around the shape and "shooting break" aka station wagon design even though it is in many respects a lot of car particularly at the depreciated prices a few year old one sells for with literally no miles.

I am sure Ferrari could sell a SUV if they made one, as the saying goes "there is an a** for every seat". Not sure how that improves the Ferrari brand unless Ferrari goes into off road racing which seems a stretch. So unless they build a new facility to produce the SUV to increase their production capacity they just bump the units of another model to make a high priced SUV. Bentley already makes a high priced SUV for those wanting snob appeal.

I just don’t get where this does much for Ferrari when currently there is a waiting period for all their models. For grocery getters my preference would be just to go down to a dealer and pick one up or even order one with a couple month wait but certainly not wait for a year or more to get a high priced appliance.

My opinion: I don't care for the look of the Ferrari FF. I think SUVs are over rated! Not that efficient for the space take up.

It will be built on a FIAT suv platform with a Ferrari motor and Chrysler interior bits. The thing will geyser profits.

    We'll see.

They are already trying to coerce clients to buy Portofinos in favor for Pista allocations. I'd bet the SUV will follow suit very, very soon from its' debut.

Ferrari can only afford so many of these cars before they hit the tipping point and their high end clients wise up and refuse to by the lesser models to get the latest IMO.
