My dilemma. It's a pleasant mental anguish.
I'm hoping to read some comments to aid my decision as to whether I keep my 612 and only dream about owning an F12 for the short term at least or do I sell the 612 which would allow me to get into an F12 sooner.

    My thoughts.
The 612 is an awesome car that runs great; I just dropped several thousand on annual maintenance; mine has only 13k miles; it's a looker but a bit dated; it can seat more than 2 if needed but the kids are older and we really aren't using it for the 4 of us; it is a classic OTO; not the most updated head unit; it is fast enough for any purpose; it might become more valuable in the future than it is today.

The F12 is newer, a more improved car; DCT more reliable transmission than F1; no cost for annual maintenance for a few more years at least; less miles; it's a looker too with more state of the art electronics; seats only 2; is way more faster than anything should be; it probably won't be more valuable than the 612 in the future.

    ?
    Thanks.

    My rules:

    1. If it's your first Ferrari, don't sell it.
    2. If you are selling one Ferrari to buy another Ferrari, go for it
    3. Never be Ferrari-less !

I always have a hard time selling cars I really like. I really like my 612 OTO and it is my first Ferrari so likely will not sell it. I have other cars to sell first. If your garage space is dear and you have to sell it to make way for the F12 then do what you have to do. Otherwise keep the 612 and get the F12. My guess is that you will trade the F12 for your next Ferrari and still have the 612 after the F12 is gone. I doubt the F12 will ever be a classic and the 612 will. One opinion I could be wrong.o_O

Al, I'm confused about your statement "it is a classic OTO; not the most updated head unit" regarding your 612. It is a 2009, yes? I thought all 2008 and later OTOs had the same spec (excluding cosmetics and some options) from the factory. Are you perhaps referring to a different audio system (head unit)?

Regarding your question, I am like "randkin" and usually have a problem selling a car, sometimes taking a l..o..n..g time to make that final decision to let something go. However, when I have sold one car to get another, I almost never have regretted the move. The excitement of experiencing something different usually overwhelms whatever qualms I had about selling a car to make the move. The F12 is a heckuva car.

Will a 612 OTO appreciate in the future, and an F12 not? Speculative, of course, but IMO the time frame for a significant increase in value (double and more) for an OTO is many years down the pike. "Life is short" and can throw us curves. If you are in a position to make the move to the F12 now, I say do it. Although not plentiful, 612 OTOs are not hens' teeth, either. If you decide at some point that you want to reverse the process and get into an OTO again, that can be done with a little patience. I have been foolin' with cars for over a half century and have owned some iconic cars (usually by dumb luck). I have never missed anything enough to go back and buy it again. My $0.02.

    Don thanks for the reply.
Of my "classic OTO" comment, I was just discerning it from a non OTO or iow older 612 gens.
Head unit reference , I meant audio / radio is not as state of the art as some newer vehicles may have. I do enjoy a quality sound system in my cars.
This 612 is not my first, but it is special to me. I do agree with life throws curves. Every decision we make is at the expense of another decision, so I am mentally playing with myself trying to process a lot of considerations.
On occasion I do regret selling my 42,000 mile, '97 red / tan 993 turbo 3 years ago. I'd like to buy it back but for not what they are going for now, lol

Alcav5 now that I see what you have in the stable, if it were me I would let the F430 go and keep the 612. Yes I know completely different driving experience but the F430 is "an ordinary" Ferrari if there is such a thing and the 612 OTO is more special in my thinking.

Yes I am letting the 430 spider go , maybe next week it's done. Originally I was going to upgrade to a 458 spider but then F12 came into view so now I'm hooked on that but it's a bit further reach right now just by selling the spider alone.
That said , from a few conversations I've had, I think I am going to keep the 612 and wait an extra month or so for the F12.
