It's not uncommon for forums to resize images both to fit their layout, and to limit bandwidth usage. I thought there was some way to upload them but somehow keep the full resolution - I have seen someone do that before. Clicking on the image revealed the full size one I thought. I'll see if I can find the details.
Seems you have to host the images elsewhere and link to them - here's the post by Sterling Sackey where he mentions it: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/countach-downdraft.503457/page-346#post-145990598

Great seeing a red and blue version of a 328 GTB on the same page above. Gee they are a good looking car in either colour.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Probably the last fuel stop for 2018. Also still trying to figure out how to get this site to display images in original quality. This example is 1.4MB and 1280 x 919 pixels in width. It looks horrible once imported to this message.
It looks pretty darned good to me in your post. As a test, I right-clicked to "save picture as", saved the image to desktop and reopened it. It saved/opened as 800 x 574 w 24 bit color and file size of 1.31 MB.
Found this photo online of my car in the local car show, I really like it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I's horrible actually. In my image everything is razor sharp. Your numbers tell me they have re-resed the image and done it badly. Oh well...
While it's still a great site here, what you complain about is, what's annoying me most here. Even more, that noone of the responsible staff seems to care about. I'm pretty sure, that there are myriads of pictures, which quality regarding sharpness and resolution impression went to the dogs after upload. I just try a picture I took yesterday, which is razor-sharp on all of my displays but once again poor here. No more mentioning of sharpness, here especially color saturation went to the dogs. It is absolutely great site due to its members and helps a lot of people like me, but as you say sharpness, saturation, etc all deteriorated. I am proud of my photos so pardon me for not being happy with the way they are altered. Maybe someone will figure this out. I have no such problem on Rennlist or Instagram so it's probably a fairly simple coding fix. Best from the U.S. Tim
Tim, did you try to discuss this problem with the FChat staff? I tried, but never got a reply. Best from Germany Martin
It grieves me too. Same over here. Maybe all is optimized for Iphones, etc. I shoot with a Canon DSLR. Doesn't work for me. Best from Germany Martin
I haven't participated in this thread yet, but I have shared this pic before, it is actually my avatar. Wouldn't believe it is Texas. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The right man at the right time. Rob, what about Tim's an my problem with the picture quality going to the dogs after upload? Best from Germany Martin
Size to our restriction with the resolution you want before upload. When you upload directly you leave it in hands of the software for resolution and that's not its priority.
And where can I find those restrictions? The only hint, while uploading is 'max. 5mb', but I cannot find any hints regarding size. At least not within your 'Help'-page, where are such immensely useful things like available smilies,or available trophies Best from Germany Martin
