    Hello,

I plan on getting the straps that hold the owners manual in the trunk made in real leather.

I really cannot understand what Ferrari's reasoning was to make these in rubber/vinyl (or whatever it is).

Mine is damaged, and I am sure there are many who have the same problem or are missing due to the belt breaking in half.

I would like to know if there is interest in purchasing these, as I could have a large batch made and get better pricing.

I plan on using leather, similar to the type used for horse reins.

The stitching, buckle and rivets will be in the same color and material (brass).

Do have interest in these straps as well as those for the 360 CS spare tire kit if they can match the original straps which are not leather and of poor quality.

Search in the 360/430 section, I know someone who had them made by a leather guy in SoCal for his car. They came out really nice.

Please post a picture with exact dimensions.

I will have a sample made and then post pictures.

Could you confirm that all are the same color (same color as the owners manual holder)?

    Thank you

Interesting... my 612 has no such straps. I can see why it would be nice, though!

Would be interested in those for my 430.

They really are low quality considering.

Great - could you take some measurements, want to be sure the 599 and 430 are the same.

Moderators: It appears the 612 do not have them - is it possible to change the title of my post to avoid confusing other members?

I had the exact same problem on my 599. I took the old straps to local Shoe Repair Shop. They made me new ones exactly like old, they put my old brass buckles on the new ones and total cost was $35. Perfect.

I must admit that I lied to the Shoe Repair guy though ..

When I showed him the old straps for repair, he made a remark about the VERY bad quality of them .. he even mentioned that it was not leader at all..
And then he made me the obvious question ..
-Where are these straps from ?
(Me) -..err .. From an old postman-style bag I got from my grand dad .. err.. that I just want to rejuvenate..
    (Him) -Hmmmmm, I figure ..
8 euros each and you can pick them up tomorrow evening ..
    -Sure thing. Thanks!

Big liar Fernando .. but I just couldn't admit they belong to one of the prettiest autos ever built :)

The 612 leather straps are in the lower trunk compartment and hold the air compressor in place.

Amazingly bad quality faux leather straps in my 599--completely fell apart. The replacements from Ferrari are black leather, not tan and look like dog collars. Smart to try to match with a shoe repair shop. Ferrari should be embarrassed to spec that kind of OEM material.

Many threads on this in the 360 section but try a saddle/leather making shop. They can fix you up on the cheap.

I ordered and received mine. They are quite good looking, good color match and an improvement in quality.

My plan for installing is to thread a nylon line through the holes in the current strap and pull the strap through. Detach line, tie to new strap and reverse the process.

If anyone has already done the install let me know if you see any issue with this. The alternative seems to be removing the panel which looks like a lot of work.

Again thanks lawteam for the original legwork.
