Specifically the front Bilstein 146290/141857. I've searched quite a bit but haven't found a thread that had any other info. Anyone have a lead?

I tried getting mine overhauled by Bilstein but the lead time was problematic. You could look for a specialist that can do this. They are out there, but few and far between, due to the complexities in splitting the unit and repressureising.
As you've found they've been on backorder and nla. Have a look on superformance.co.uk. They'd been looking for an alternate and finally got Koni to come up with them. Koni supply for the 355 so are more than suitable.

Carlo348, thanks for your reply. I had looked at Superformance UK and spent some time trying to figure out which model Koni they were selling. I called around to a couple of shops that specialize in rebuilds. One was $300/shock, but their standard turnaround was 3>4 weeks!!! As I am taking the car to FL this winter, I really didn't want to Park it! They did say they would try to work with me on the time frame. Another shop simply went to voicemail, suggesting to email, etc. Didn't follow up any further, as some on here have mixed reviews with them. No timely replies, repairs have taken loong times, etc. I'll have to dig deeper!

As above your choices seem to be
    - a) rebuild by bilstean, with a long lead time;
    - b) Konis from superformance.
    - c) there are some "new" ones kicking about second hand, but they aren't cheap. Ebay I think, possibly from Germany.

I rebuilt my suspension last winter. I didn't do the shocks as they were fine, if a bit of surface corrosion. But in hind sight, I should have just taken plunge and sent them to Bilstein for rebuild.

If yours are fine, put them back for your trip, then send them off next winter for a rebuild. If they are fubar...superformance. Or try for some second hand ones. This side of the pond, try redbaycars, or ProSport (but call as they don't list eberything on the website and can source stuff as they have for me in the past.)

    Good luck.

A348W thanks for your reply. There doesn't seem to be any more options..... I was really hoping someone had searched out a good replacement with reasonable $$... LOL!

A348W... just south of Ottawa: Manotick, on the Rideau river. Dunrobin? hope your family was safe from the Tornado that passed through in Sept. Many were not as lucky, lots of trashed properties.

I see you said Koni supplies 355 shock replacements..? I checked superformance and see the Konis in 348 section.. but don't see them in 355 section..?
is it an aftermarket setup.. or direct OE replacement part for the 355..?

My mistake, they don't it's Bilstein as well sorry. Koni for the 348 are very good though. It's a relief that there is an alternative as I was quoted over 1500$ a pair when i tried to replace mine.

Interesting find. I need to replace my bilstein shocks soon. Looks like the ones from OKP are a good option though pricey.

Seems to be the going rate, if available. The Konis (which I would prefer) from Superformance are priced a bit higher.

Guys, thanks for all the ideas/options. I've made my decision.... purchased some good used shocks/springs. They will be waiting for me in Florida when I get down there end of month. I'll change mine out, disassemble, and send out my old ones for a rebuild. The purchased ones will be run in the meantime. Who knows, maybe they(used ones) will be better than expected... LOL!

Wonder what the current status is for turn-around at Bilstein. Here's a link from another thread:

    Worth checking out.

Wade, thanks for that info. Called Bilstein (CA) and they no longer rebuild Ferrari shocks! Apparently Ferrari got after Bilstein (Germany) , stated they were taking away sales.... and they no longer supply those parts to their rebuilding group! Ferrari shut it down 3>4 years ago. After reading the way Ferrari is trying to sell new cars.... well, that's another ***** session.

I had a full set rebuilt by Bilstein Australia, including seals, oil, shock shaft and adjuster all new. Dyno tested before and after. For approximately $3300 AUD. Only a few months ago. This was for an F355 but I can’t see how the 348 shocks aren’t possible to service.

    Try other providers?

That's a great price in US Dollars = $2399. But I think that new Konis may cost the same.

Yes they be similar but I was able to rebuild the shocks and valve them according to my preferences and driving. Which is the benefit of a rebuild over buying new ones.
