    Hi everybody.

My steering has always been quite disappointing in my 308 QV. Have checked setup several times, but feels hard, and vague, with no return. With the wheels up, it feels jammed, depending of the position of the wheel. I would say that the rack is bent for some reason. I stripped it down, changed the end bush, and adjusted the arms, but it didn't cure the problem.

Whit this in hand, I was thinking in changing the complete steering. I have done some research to see if I could find a replacement from another car with better quality, but at the moment, I have found nothing. So I am considering to fit a 130cm steering from a 328 (feels much better than mine). Does anybody knof it it fits?
What about Superformance one? Has anybody tried one?

    Thanks in advance.

Recently had similar issues with my QV. Had the whole rack rebuilt with Superperformance parts including the fast ratio rack. Incredible change. And yes found the old rack was bent/ warped. Would recommend their rebuild parts.

I got the faster rack for my QV. I like it but it required some machining on the end of the bar to fit the car.

So I've been looking to replace/rebuild my rack in my 84 QV... where did you get parts and who did your rebuild?

So... just realized that "superformance" is a parts supplier in the UK and not the company that builds replica Cobras

Mine was done by Scott Lankford at Rosso Service in Forest Hill, Md
Very highly recommended. Knows his stuff and our cars.

I also had delrin bushings installed to mount it. Steering is very accurate, smooth and go-cart like. I love it.

+1 on the fast rack - makes the car feel 20 years younger. I cheated a little and installed power steering, but it tapers off to zero assistance at 35kph.

I’ve been looking at that too. Which system did you go with and where did you obtain it. Should go well with my cruise control.

    Hi again.

If you check out Superformance webpage, you will see they offer 2 different racks for 328. I know that 308 qv has the same steering that the 328, hence my question about fitting the late 328 steering 130mm long instead of the 113mm 308 qv and early 328 use. For some reason 328 have much better feeling, being the same as a 308 qv.

    Regards.

I have the Superperformance quick ratio rack fitted to mine and it’s very worthwhile. I seem to remember that the rack itself is common to some European Fords also.

It makes the car far more responsive and less tiring in the twisty stuff.

I like this company a lot and they’re great to deal with also.

Superformance UK sell all the bits you need. I filled the rack with Penrite Semi-Fluid Grease and it is silky smooth.
The refurb process is well documented and it is straight-forward. Like many jobs on these cars, the procedures often sound tricky but are generally very easy if you don't rush and use some common sense.

I was reading yesterday that Quaife makes some quick ratio racks. They make one for the bertone x1/9. I wonder if the superformance is the same unit or made by them?
