I use Kamikaze. Bottle came with the ISM coating kit. Very good results with it.

Do you have to change the resin cartridges? The ad is bit confusing.

How do you "recharge" the system?

There are no cartridges. Instructions say to just unscrew the top of the unit, drop in 2 lbs of salt, put top back on, let it sit for 30 minutes and flush it out. I have not had to do it yet as it the meter it comes with still says zero solids. Easy enough.

How is the water at your house? Also do you already have a water softener?

We have well water that is ok and also have a water softener and was wondering how much more stuff this unit removes from the water?

We have a well as well, though punched into the actual aquifier. I measured mine at 109 PPM, fairly hard. We don't use a water softener because of the salt, just live with it. This does a fantastic job.

Make sure when your done washing the car use a gas blower to dry the car. Try not to use any kind of towel when drying. Only micro towels lightly as you want to reduce drag on the paint which will create scratches.
