evening gentlemen..... probably totally against their better judgement, the moderators have asked me to introduce a new concept to the F1 section..... the Ferrari tifosi formula one discussions thread.

No nastiness please, no arguments..... friendly discussions and lively banter only please, and that means Sid too!

Ideally, this should be the one thread where Ferrari, it’s drivers, it’s engineers and it’s cars are the main point of discussion. How are we preparing, what can be expected, what can’t (getting the bloody strategy calls right) and generally Ferrari focussed fun and games

    IMPORTANT.
Please guys, take note, this thread is for tifosi to post as an alternative to the usual F1 race thread. The mods have approved this thread as a Ferrari fan zone where anti-Ferrari posts may be considered trolling with resultant mod action. Note that attacks on another user for trolling are still unacceptable, simply report posts for mod review and possible action.

This is clearly a really positive step in the forum, so I hope we can all get behind the idea and have some fun without the distractions that cause mayhem elsewhere. If it’s successful, I’d hope we can have a new safe-zone race thread each race next year which will be more engaging and informative for all of us

    Forza Ferrari. Caio

So, despite their being very little in the way of silverware to go for at Abu D, what do you want to see from Ferrari at the last race?
Me, I’m hoping they can concentrate on providing a perfect race and perfect strategy for once, and that they turn up the engines, spool up the turbos, and let those engines whirr (sic) until they explode, they don’t need them for next year!

Sebastian needs to have a nice ice bath, drop that blood pressure, and let it ride. He has to find his confidence again before the off season, as otherwise his head won’t be in the right place for the start of next season. Kimi would likely love to leave with a win too before he goes testing our parts with Alfa.

Either way, I hope the car hits the ground running from P1 onwards, and we get at least the trophy for the win in the desert.

In the meantime, we may see Max in a slightly different shade of orange, his commmunity service jumpsuit, picking up the trash and cigarette butts around the circuit so he gets his sentence finished before Xmas, as Christian Horner told him that Santa won’t bring him any presents this year!

I like this idea. I hope it is successful.

I feel at a loss to describe what happened to Ferrari's competitiveness in Brazil. Throughout qualifying, it felt like their engine power was back. They were so quick in Sector 3, particularly pulling massively uphill to the start/finish line. And then very pedestrian overall during the race.

I've been a Vettel defender throughout this year, but I feel like I'm starting to wane. The lackluster start was not completely unexpected on the soft tire compound, but his hiccup to allow Kimi by just should not happen. Not a big mistake like past races, but that just can't happen at that time.

Agree with the above. Think Vettel needs to pull it together to go into the offseason with his head on straight. Would love to see Ferrari put together a total team effort. I am not holding my breath.

On a different note, very excited to see Charles' pace next year.

    LMAO :)

Be good to see Kimi go out on a high note; with a solid pit wall strategy. Seb...well what can you say about him at the moment?

Wonder how much "testing" they will be doing for 2019 or will they go all out to save some face?

Grid girls would be good...off course, and I always like to see Dilbar in the background. (Ok completely unrelated, but hey its cool.)

I think Vettel started well, started to believe Ferrari’s hype despite the reality that they were quick, but their wins were not all by their own doing, and then as the wheels started to come off and Mercedes found their starting point for set up he started to try to overcompensate. Some of his spins have been nothing more than trying too hard, wanting to be immediately at the front rather than a strategy to get there which may take a few laps but that would work. The more he overdrives, the more it goes wrong, and the harder he then overcompensates, it’s a self perpetuation problem. He has to sit back, let it wash over him, and go out at AD like it doesn’t matter, like it’s a fresh start to the season, and make the most of his undoubted abilities.

The team themselves in my opinion are just in disarray, for many of the same reasons Seb is all at odds. They need a firm hand on the rudder now, make AD count if not for anything else but as a reminder that they are capable of producing a winning strategy. The stupid issues have to be eradicated, if it takes an extra engineer drafted in as quality control, or just to hold an extra screwdriver, they need to get it sorted out. I believe the underperformance of Seb’s car was down to a sensor issue at the weekend, but given sensor warnings are two a penny in our road cars, someone should be on that and shortening the factory reset procedure on the racers, or learn how to unplug it!

Forza Ferrari, and thanks guys for helping me get this up and running

Attn Mods: What have you done to Sid? lol

I would like to see Kimi get the nod to go for the win at this race. This past weekend, team orders had Seb letting Kimi pass because he had more pace. Let us hope that Seb will do the same if Kimi indeed has more pace. WDC and WCC are over,so there is nothing to lose.

Hehehe, I would tell you where the electrodes went, and the evil smile on Neuro’s face, but I’m having my breakfast!

Last weekend Seb had the equivalent of the road going owners worst nightmare, a 50 cent sensor failure that effectively put him in limp mode! This weekend, we should hopefully see him going at it fully armed, instead of one arm behind his back. It would be great to see Kimi get another win, but I think for the team next year, we’d be better off if Seb wins, although if he’s second as a One-two, maybe that will be okay for his psyche. He needs a boost of belief in the team and himself

Seb has been neutralized into a driver only role. Management made sure of that. Its not a bad idea but he is also quickly pointed out on record by them of late as having caused the most errors vs the team. Certainly a nice but not so subtle reminder of his place in the team is it? Hopefully over the winter they will re-group and continue to refine the very good car at hand.

The wildcard will be Charles and his impact. Just being there should be positive as it is time for the team to move on and bring new blood/ideas and challenge.

I’m looking forward to chuck joining, and to see how he adapts to the real ferrari from what is presumably a pared back version at Alfa.

The chap has a lot of promise, and he will be having the opportunity to liken the real thing to his simulator experience. As long as he races hard but fairly with seb and obeys team orders if and when given, it could be a dream pairing if seb comes back revitalised and on it

My heart says Kimi for the win, Vettel second in my ideal world. My head says Vettel needs to win for some of the reasons stated in earlier posts, principal one being to start to get his head straight for next year. I hope the pairing with Leclerc is productive as the last time time Vettel was paired with a talented young gun, Ricciardo outdrove him over his last season at Red Bull. So in the greater interest of the team, Vettel for the win.

Last race of the year, time to settle favors from earlier in the year. Has Kimi been given team orders to let Seb pass for a win when he needed the points? If we find Seb in the lead over Kimi, is it time to gift that race back so the points reflect the true accomplishments of both men? Same with Lewis if he's leading Bottas and owes him one from earlier in the season due to team orders. I'd like to see Kimi or Bottas win now that the points race is over.

What is the points spread between Kimi and Seb? Is anyone fighting it out at this last race for their top 10 placing?

    Vettel has 302pts to Kimi's 251(3rd)

    Bottas(4th) with 237pts & Max(5th) with 234pts.

    From a constructors perspective:

Alfa-Sauber & RP Force India for constructor points.

Currently, RPFI has 48pts(7th) while Alfa-Sauber 42pts(8th). The difference is millions of dollars for Alfa-Sauber IF they jump RPFI for 7th.

What we don't want is a Kimi DNF - then Bottas only needs a podium to get 3rd place. Also Max only needs 3 points more than Bottas to leapfrog him based on his 2 wins as opposed to Bottas' zero victories.

    Best,
    Sammy

Hey; let's be creative here as with so little at stake we have a great opportunity to make it a very interesting two event day. The top six race for full points in the 'feature'; not so important as only third place is in question. The next eight guys have a lot at stake so start them in a separate event on Sunday. Again, race for full points. With things so close between them and with so much team money at stake it should be very interesting racing. The 'bottom' group can have an add on event on Saturday replacing qualifying [which will make the feature top six race that much more interesting]. No points because they are use to that.....
I have a feeling the drivers would all go for it......

Is this a Mercedes track or a Ferrari track? I know the long back straight takes Red Bull out of it.

Uh oh, that puts around 15/16 potential road bollards out there for Max to negotiate.... I think there might be fireworks if it were to happen! However, on a serious note, I hope reverse and random grids don’t happen. Firstly, F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of the sport, so it shouldn’t have gimmicks like reverse grids, secondly, we’ll just have the best teams not trying in qualifying trying to be last on the list.... you know how crafty the teams are. Anything you did along these lines would have to be unpredictable and therefore random, like pulling lots for the actual grid order, and that is just so childish and unprofessional for such a supposedly great sport

I can tell you from experience, the mark up to have a cavallino on the sensors box is a number of thousand percents!!!!!!!!

I bought a specialist racing radiator for the 599, it was only £1800, compared to the ferrari standard one at double that!!!
