I'm not sure what the point of your post is, but the history doesn't appear complete. What happened during the first year/2500 miles?
are you serious? every 2 hours there is a post about service costs and what does it take to run one of these or how many miles car shld i buy etc the car was delivered in feb 07 and the first service was november 07 - how do you conclude the history is incomplete?
Ok, I thought you had a question about something... wasn't sure. Also, for some reason, I thought it was an '06... I probably confused yours with another post. I would have deleted my post, but the 20-minute timeframe seemed to have expired in 10 minutes. Sorry.
no worries. the board constantly (naturally) gets similar questions over and over about certain costs etc so i figured a different and sound way to look at it wld be by offering a real life service history with dates and dollars.
OK so to clarify do the lines that do not specifically mention service include service eg July 17 / Sep 14 /Aug 13 ?
I just purchased my first F430 and waiting for delivery. This info is helpful to me and scary as hell at the same time! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well needless to say after looking at this than a TR is much cheaper to own than a 430. Major service aside/ or catastrophic diff failure i never had a bill that high. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Super useful and informative post, thanks ttforcefed! The clutch was replaced after ~10k miles twice, is that typical on a F430?
not sure what happened the first time around since i didnt own the car - in sept 2016 i had it replace even though it didnt need to be since we were doing the exhaust manifolds. it had about a ton of meat left on it but i have issues, what can i say.
That would be great; my bill around the year is roughly 3/4k. That includes: 1-paint correction/cosmetics as needed 2-full fluid changes 3-any minor repairs I guess if we tie it back to the miles driven things must be closer than i think they are, a TR is just not a daily driver vs a 430. Plus one can do some things themselves on those old girls. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Say 3k/4 a year for overall maintenance plus 1400 (for a 5 year service a 7k) so i guess im looking at anywhere between 4 to 6k. Of course some years are better than others and some with clutch and diff may take the budget way up high. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Interesting data, thanks for compiling it. So if my quick math is close, that’s about $75k in repairs/maintenance over 12 years? Or about $6k a year average. Good info.
I wld exclude the second clutch job, the stereo, the capristo hiflow cats and headers as all of that was not necessary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First the FF, now the 430. I for one really appreciate getting a first-hand view on the expenses. Thank you for sharing!
Seems like all 430s will be plagued with variator and F1 actuator issues. Many seem to be failing now. Good news is, the actuator can be rebuilt for under $3k by GTE engineering. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yeh driving a ferrari isnt cheap - dont care what anyone says. you are going to bang up and bend wheels, you are gonna need tires and every engine/car has a vulnerability - the 355s need major services, guides etc. the only sure fire way to enjoy driving one is a buy a new one and drive the crap out of it until the last day of the warranty and then sell it. then you suffer from normal depreciation, mileage depreciation, and no warranty left depreciation. just a matter of picking the poison you enjoy the most.
If you want to track back a few years to read an expert on this subject try Mike Sheehan's web site. He has been bluntly illuminating on these cost realities.
When I brought my 430 in for a service and a new clutch I almost fell over. My comment to the Service tech was the clutch is as much as an engine out major on my old 512 TR.
January 2012 - 12,556 (dealer) 4 year service 4 wheel alignment 1 year power warranty $4,259 Total: $7,764 January 2013 – 14,589 miles (dealer) One year power warranty $4,040 Annual service Replaced phase sensor right side Variator control solenoid valve Total: $5,856 May I ask...when you got the 1-year power warranty in 2012 and 2013, did something expensive break on the 430 that the warranty covered? I see that on 2013, the phase sensor and variator control solenoid valve were done. Were these covered by the power warranty? Thank you.
No i didnt own the car then. I never do extended warranties. I self insure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
