DFW So, who leaves the keys in an unlocked Ferrari in the driveway?

You’d be surprised...we have customers who leave keys to all sorts of things in their cars in parking garages downtown. Aventador, newer Rovers, R8, F cars, porsches. No Mac owners telling us ‘I’ll let the keys under the mat’ yet though. Maybe they’re the smart ones or perhaps just new money that hasn’t gotten used to these sorts of toys to take them for granted yet

Theft rates have gone through the roof since the smart keys came out. I remember a few years ago back home in East Hampton something like 40 luxury cars were stolen simply by thieves going around until they found one with the keys inside. We have some customers who don’t even know where the keys are, they drop their car off and say ‘I have no idea where the keys are but they must be inside because it starts whenever I get it.’

 

I was about to say the same thing. You'd really be surprised.

I have a friend that will leave his keys in his truck because he uses the Ford number pad. I don't think he does it all the time anymore, but I still told him it's dumb.

 

A standard transmission would have fixed that.
