Publicly displayed at the Hilton Head Concours Aero Expo. Had a personal tour with Interior Designer friend Salvador Gonzalez. Sal is a Graduate of the Art Center College of Design, the Premier Design School for Automotive Designers. He has worked for BMW, Mini and Indian Motorcycles in the past, and now does aviation. A very roomy plane, I could stand up at 6'5" but had to take my hat off.

so it slots in the Gulfstream lineup between the G550 and the G600? a bit confusing.

    great plane either way.

It still has original Gulfstream DNA. I remember my days at plant 1 in Bethpage when the company G1 and G2 would both take off every morning around 7:30 for other Grumman facilities. The G1 was louder when taxiing by, but the G2 was much louder taking off! If the nearby residents weren't already awake, the G2 made a good alarm clock!

Probably the G450. Gulfstream doesn't seem to worry too much about consistency in their numbering schemes-- they already made a "G500" which was a G550 minus a little bit of fuel and some options.

Then there is the "G280" which was originally the "G250" until marketing found out that 250 is an unlucky number in China!

"G250" when translated into spoken Mandarin was similar to a word meaning "imbecile" in English.
That is why we changed the name. :)

Gulfstream has revamped their aircraft line with the 500 and 600. The 650 effectively killed the 550. With the 500 and 600 as new designs they finished killing what little was left for the 550 in the marketplace and the 450 was killed with the 500. The 500 and 600 share a common fuselage diameter which is larger than the historic GI - G550 but smaller than the 650. They also cruise faster in both high speed and long range than the traditional Gulfstreams; more like the 650.

Gulfstream has already made public statements that they are looking at something to go between the 280 and the new 500.

In a trade news item today, sounds like Gulfstream is trying to design something above the G650 to compete with the additional cabin of the Global 7500. The Global has one more seating area than the 650 and the difference is noticeable.

The problem is going to come by designing to be under the max weight restriction for Teterboro.

All these three-digit Gulfstream designations are confusing. It was much better in the G2, G3, G4 days.....

Remember the GIITT and the GIIB. Later came the GIISP.

I think GIITT and GIISP were marketing designations dreamed up by third parties. GIIB was a Gulfstream product, though, and my friends who flew IIBs absolutely loved them.

The tip tank thing, not so much-- I heard it basically did nothing, as you burned all the extra fuel just carrying it.

Not sure if the TT was an actual designation just how people referred to them. They were a disliked item as they carried fuel to burn fuel - as I remember it the additional range was negligible at best.

The GIISP is interesting in that it was not an actual Gulfstream project but a major force in it was Al Paulson after he had sold Gulfstream.

GIIB - so wonderful that Gulfstream killed it since it was taking sales away from new G-IIIs. Better performance and range than a G-III with 24" of less length in the cabin.

IF you are serious, make sure you get truthful numbers on operating costs and the maintenance programs. I have not heard more on it but Constant Aviation/Nextant has been considering a cockpit conversion for the GV in line with what they developed for the Challenger 604 to get the current technology and the ability to integrate al the current and upcoming avionic mandates.

Presumably SCFerrari has either operated a large or mid-cabin business jet before, or has done a lot of chartering of large cabin airplanes...

We all want to ride wherever you are going lol. For a base of 43.5mm that's a lot of dough. But I guess for some it's all perspective. Say, 70mm for a GTO for instance......or if only we had purchased that lotto ticket that put 690 million cash in a bank account that someone purchased about 37 miles from where I sit.
