They are calling the under construction 110 North Wacker the Bank of America Tower now. It's as big if not bigger than their "headquarters" building in square footage and is over 800 feet tall.

On a slightly related note: Currently reading "Man on wire" by Philippe Petit, the guy who did a wire walk between the two towers of the WTC. Phantastic read. My me think it would be so cool if we had one of these events here in town again. Loved the one a couple years ago across the river. It's not that we don't have enough sky scrapers to pull some wire from.

I will be moving into that 110 N Wacker office in a couple of years. I hear it will be pretty sweet. Will report out after I have a chance to settle in.

I once had a chance to run (or climb) to the top via the stairwell years ago. Didn't do so bad and I made it all the way to the top. Fun and exhausting.

Calatrava designed a hotel for Denver DIA... city finally fired him and paid part of his fee... he's suing...

City hired a local architect to do it over... it's now open... looks a lot like the Calatrava design.

The bad is that it hides the great Fentress fabric roofed entry hall. Very bad.

Here is the Calatrava ORD terminal video. I think it would look good next to the United terminal wich will not be altered. Completion in 2028. No room for that big garden although. That needs to be deleted from the proposal.

I adore Calatrava's work. If Chicago wants to put its name on the planet, go with his design. If it just wants a regular terminal with a famous name, pick Renzo Piano. Nice but unspectacular.

Another historical industrial building being converted to a hotel. If you ever come to Chicago you will find some of the nicest Terra Cotta and grey stone fronted buildings lining Cermak from the west all the way up to the river and this Scherzer Rolling Lift Bridge. Go back to page 18 and you can see photos I took going up Cermak along with a photo entering the bridge.

A second proposal for 400 Lake Shore Drive, the Chicago Spire site. The city wanted Related to go to a taller 1 tower design instead of 2 smaller towers. This looks over 1500 feet tall not including the spire on top.
