Ellagirl, why the insult? Don’t you realize that the childish insults do nothing? There nothing dumb about pointing out that the market holds some versions more valuable than others. It’s a fact.

Disagree with something that gives you credibility. Make constructive points. But the constant back and forth you guys do is ridiculous. It’s serves no purpose. It’s not constructive.

If you guys would like to continue the back and forth you are going to drive away people who have constructive things to share.

I’m about to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars restoring two FI cars perfectly and share these experiences with the forum. If you are proud of your FI car then you’d likely enjoy it. But if you guys continue to lob ridiculous insults and take the bait (yes it goes for the other side too I know) its going to drive people to leave the forum, and so will other enthusiasts if the moderators don’t shut it down.

Just stop taking the bait. Stop the insults.

Maybe you can go back to my original post on this thread. Read it.

I appreciate your attempt to promote a civil exchange on this thread though you really should regulate your words. There is no equivalents between he and I. Rather, his rudeness was, and has been, purely unilateral. I offered up a thought and he responded with his usual childish flair. There has been no “lobbing ridiculous insults” from me. I’m here to enrich my hobby and I’ll continue to do so. If this forums management chooses to ignore how certain people conduct themselves I’ll not allow it to spoil my experience.

There is nothing wrong or insulting at all about what I wrote. It doesn’t even contain a sharp tone in the least. It was merely a response to an earlier post claiming that some think fuelies are worthless. I’m here to discuss and learn about the Countach from people like yourself, so I’m back on topic. Having insults thrown at me does not make me guilty of the same. If that’s how some on here choose to conduct themselves I can’t do anything about that.

Ok, my only skin in this fi dd thing has been one thing, reverse the US bumper thing, remove the cats, add original dd style headers, This way it looks fantastic,as intended, and imho gain the hp lost .this is it,nothing else. I will never claim value or any type of market comparison,i leave this to all the buyers out there, world wide, they will deside, there is absolutely nothing i can do about it. Time will tell,If my comments came out hinting at value or anything of this nature,it was not meant do do so, i wish you the best of luck finding your DD, you will absolutely love it, i know i totally love my Countach, it is an amazing car, brimming with personality. Also interesting to follow the color change on the Canepa car, how this car will be accepted.

John, i can not respond in the dd tread,i was banned, for saying buuu, anyway no big deal, your post there regarding bumper reversion was very good, actually all your posts are very good, poss the best on this chat room, i just wish you would have left the fi owner trying to claim their cars value thing and chip on their shoulder out of your post, again i truly enjoy your writing, something is telling me you do this for a living, also your wiew on things are clear and fresh. Again my only skin in this is loss of bumpers and cats, add headers, and zooom, you got your hp. Thats it, no value/market claim, that beeing said,no denying the fi is a bargain at this point, any person ever wanted a Countach, should run out and buy one, i will follow your resto fi tread to the fullest, beeing i probably at some point will do this to my car. Again thanks for your intelligent wiew on this beloved car.

Let’s move on. We all love Countach’s. And, for what it’s worth, as I’ve stated before, I may very well end-up owning a FI car someday. While I prefer the DD, the right car me prove to be out of my reach. We’ll see.

I don’t need your help or direction to regulate my words. I chose my words quite carefully, and have made quite a good profession out of it. And Ive been overtly generous taking my time with you privately with the words I’ve chosen. I wasn’t speaking about you in suggesting the back and forth has been appalling. In fact I defended your every word. I was speaking about others who have done so through these forums including the one that attacked you. I’ll file this one under no good deed goes unpunished. It’s also clear I’ve waisted my time

Do most feel that such a heavily modified car is worth more than a pure car? I think as time moves on purity will continue to grow significantly in value just as it has in the Ferrari world. I would be curious how much this car sells for. For example, a heavily modified Boxer would certainly be frowned upon.

Do you really consider the Canepa car to be heavily modified? I dont. Id consider the green supercharged Countach as heavily modified, not so much the Canepa car.

Is there a picture of the side A/C vents? If they are horizontal then it’s early.. if they are vertical then it’s later.. if it has none then it’s very early LOL (for a qv).. the center console controls for the a/c are appropriate for cars earlier than 88.5.
-my understanding of all this anyway-

Personal opinion: this car has been completely restored by one of the finest shops in the world.

Despite the color change, I think this should command a very nice price for a USA QV.

I don’t consider the Canepa car to be “modified”. I guess by the strictest definition it might be, but making the car look how Lamborghini obviously wished it could is a good thing. I have only seen DOT bumpers bring lower offers than the cars would otherwise sell for..just my experience observing things on the web the last 20 years. I’m MY perfect Countach world, there would be NO DOT bumpers on ANY car.. all injected cars would have a euro exhaust, no 2 valve cars would be injected, all cars would have original rims with P7s UNLESS they had BBS back in the day or something else old school, some with wings and some without, and yes even a few front wings(5000S or older), and if they had a true modification from back in the day or something they are “known” for, then I am good with it being retained (Emilio’s friend with vortech engine/Wolf cars), for colors, I like that most will always be their original color, but a few color changes that are well done as long as they fit the era and are high quality work are fine. I wish all odd colors were retained (pink car etc).interiors can have patina or be perfect..just not ratty. most importantly, I wish all were safely and reliably out on the road.. being seen and enjoyed, not hanging on a wall or dismantled in boxes (I know a white on white DD apart and crated up for about 20 years now and will NEVER be back on the road). Of course all this is just MY opinion which brings me to the most important IDEAL (imo)- Respecting other owners, their uniqueness and THEIR opinions.

I think we can all agree that all DOT appendages are awful. They were an unfortunate necessity. Thankfully some owners are reversing them back to how they should look.
