Bump and link to RM's 512 BBi that just sold at Monterey for 357k! I tend to think my car represents excellent value at an ask of approx. 75k less AND my car has the factory luggage, a spare exhaust and platinum provenance at Cavallino, all of which RM's car did not have. Also, no mention of service on the RM car, but mine just enjoyed a 15k major in April and also has had total suspension rebuild within last 500 miles. Granted, I will give the RM car credit in the unusual color and about 15k miles less than my car. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/MO18/Monterey/lots/r0039-1984-ferrari-512-bbi/687725
How can anyone in the BBi market consider any other example besides this one?? Especially at a higher price. The only reason not to buy this one if you are in the market is you don't like red. This car is a winner! Fully serviced, platinum winner, luggage. It has everything but a super model to go with it.
Thx for the kudos above! Also, this car was a previous Fchatters car, FPARKER - so history over the last 15 years is readily available by searching through old post. FPARKER was the second owner, and before that it was owned by Maurice Schell, who imported the car when new via Grand Touring Cars (AD in Arizona) and Spa Francorchamps in Belgium.
Timing is off for me as we’ve discussed. But I will kick myself for not buying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will be attending the FCA National Meet in Watkins Glen this next week - so if anyone has any questions about my BBi you can ask me in person! I will not be taking the BBi, but instead will be judging the concours on Sunday and driving my 360 Challenge at the Glen from Monday thru Thursday. Just look for the car below, I will be sharing garage space with Jim McGee of Pocono Sports Cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bump - need to get this sold as I want to explore the performance envelope of a 360 N-GT or 360 GT compared to my 360 Challenge
In addition to the recent major service, the entire suspension was rebuilt about 500 miles ago ---- all suspension arms, shocks, hubs, and brake calipers were removed and new bushings, ball joints, shocks, springs, brake calipers, etc were installed. At this time, rather than striping and repainting the suspension arms and other components, I wished to "preserve" as much of the original finishes as possible, hence I used dry ice to blast all suspension components and the underside of the chassis. See below for some before and after parts photos as well as original finish uncovered on the suspension arms. I was happy with the results as it maintained the overall consistency of the car as one being well preserved and not "over restored" Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Amazing......Franklin was a very meticulous guy, as others have chimed in that was a magical weekend in NO, before Katrina hit. Sorry to see it slow to move, I will buy LOTTO for Wednesday night!
