488 Replacement

I highly doubt if the so called 'replacement' is just a facelift. In their roadmap it is clearly stated that the two upcoming mid engined cars will have a new hybrid powertrain.

 

No they said the rear mid engine car range will be fully hybrid by 2021.

 

That's what I thought. But from what I can understand from the slides, is that the range they're talking about is the sports range, which includes the front engined V12. There are only two mid engined cars and they are not specified as a range on their own.

 

Yes the car in the picture is the face lift car. It is a more expensive model. The 488 replacement is another car to follow later.

So what about the so called 'big brother'?

 

Big Brother is the face lift car. The car is to be previewed this month for VIP customers and 'brand ambassadors' of Ferrari...

 

In the roadmap, they're saying the big car is a hybrid. Also you can see an electric danger sign on the car. How can you insert a hybrid powertrain to that same old chassis?

 

Also, why would they call an old rehashed model an all new model? Doesn't make any sense to me.

 

Big brother is a brand new car and a hybrid one .

 

Let me explain it again and for the last time:

The 488 sucessor will be launch in Geneva, it is called "the facelift" because part of its internal code but its more than that.

The car with black camouflage in the pics is the 488 "Big brother" and it will be launch after the 488 sucessor. It looks very different comparing with other models and it will have very unique features. It certainly looks like a proper spaceship as I said some time ago.

Maybe after the summer break? Then mid September on the show circuit.

 

Oh geeze, the 488 replacement better not be a facelift. 15 years of 458/488 design and platforms? Overkill. No one will buy these once the big brother shows up.

 

But 'Ferr9000' says both cars for the first half of 2019. Then a V12 model at the end of the year, which is obviously 812 Aperta.

He simply said after. However the car shows have become something of a second chance as Ferrari previews the new cars now to various clients long before the public gets a look.

 

Seems like the real 488 replacement ( new chassis plus hybrid engine ) will be in 2021 .
Until then the 488 would be facelifted ( deeper ?) to bridge the gap .
Very risky with competitors like mclaren ..
