Hi - I'm just close to putting the finishing touches to my 308 2v GTSi however I'm in a dilemma with the mirrors.

Car came with the flags both sides which I'm not a great fan of now they are back on. So I bought a couple of Tornados, which are actually pretty useless, but I think look a little better but still not convinced.

Happy to take suggestions for any other alternatives. Superformance do the small oval ones which again look ok. http://www.superformance.co.uk/308/fittings.html

    Graham,
do you prefer original, best vision or best look?

For looks I most like the Vitaloni Californian. But these are only correct for the Euro carb cars.
A pre-owner fitted QV-mirrors on my car, which offered good vision, but I replaced them with the Californian.
Good thing is the now original appearance of my car. Bad thing, that I hardly see anything :)

Those 2Vi's were mostly one flag mirror only over in this country.

I switched my flags for Californians a year ago. They look much better, but as Martin said, the visibility isn't as good. It's not a big deal and can be improved by moving them forwards, this will especially help the offside view. I haven't done this yet but is planned when I get around to a respray.

Thanks. Are the Californias the ones on the SF website?

Just be aware that the Superperformance ones are a smooth finish whereas the original ones are textured. IIRC you can get the textured ones from Dinoparts in Germany.

They are quite widely available in all sorts of finishes - they are heavily used in motorsports and are a common choice for a number of classic cars. Many are replicas, but I understand the legitimate Vitaloni manufacturer/license holder is Barrac in Turin.

What do a pair of "euro" style electric factory mirrors with the badges go for these days?

I would say yes. While originality fetishists and the Classiche fangroup may insist on crazy prized really NOS Californians. Don't expect too much from the Barrac licensed reproductions which neither aren't 'real' NOS.

    Best Regards

Perfect, I guess the hole centre dimension will be the same for all? I've asked the question anyway.

But the hole center distance could be different to what you currently have. If you want to check, these are the dimensions of the Californian base:

The Barrac Vitaloni ones are close enough to mount in the same holes as the baby turbos without any adjustments. I think there's about a 2mm difference.

Don't the Vitaloni Baby Turbos have a mirror base with one slotted hole to adust fastener distance? Like this:
