"Sort of" an update: After several emails back and forth with the FCA Chief Concours Judge it is of my opinion that nothing is still clear to me. The Chief Judge was very helpful in explaining some of the procedure as to how to judge a Euro Ferrari but was non committal in saying or implying that the local chapter of the FCA judged my car incorrectly using the IACPFA rules and guidelines in judging a Euro. (sounds like politics to me). I promised the Chief Judge that I would not post any names or email correspondence but if I did, I believe the process would not be clear to you also. I am an FCA since 1986 and I have participated in several Cavallino and local FCA concours events and this is the first and probably the last time doing it. By the way, it is my first concours in showing the 360 even though I am the original owner. My others were a 308 and Testarossa. I will share 1 comment from the Chief Judge: "Finally, you attended and were judged at a local regional concours and the number and quality of entries reflect that. Similarly, the best and most experienced judges don't always attend these events knowing, for example that Cavallino in coming up in January. I wish that all judges were knowledgeable and fairly judged every car - but it is just not going to happen." Overall, if you started at the beginning of this thread you will see that I was 1/2 point away from a Platinum. IMO, if the judges thoroughly knew what the Euro judging guidelines were I would have exceeded more than the 1/2 point that I needed. Nevertheless, that is the story. Some of you may think that I over reacted with this, but so be it. Then again others may appreciate this. Thank you to everyone for reading this and your comments. BTW, I am still trying to get the score sheet from the local chapter FCA Chief Judge indicating the deductions. The event was in early November! Happy Holidays.
I was not aware you had no score sheet. Without that it is impossible to know what was deducted or why. It is all guess work until then. If they were not able or prepared to do that getting information at this point with the required specificity and accuracy may not be possible.
Brian, I will get that info one way or the other. I sent the request last week, 12/8, and still waiting. Resending the request this morning.
Unfortunately, Rob, I think your views here are only shared by about 1% of the Ferrari owners. I agree completely with you, but I am out of the game for now. That said, Paulie has been a friend of mine for a decade or so, and his obsession with his car is a big part of his personality, so I give him a pass! BT
Rob, you paint with a too broad brush. I have done everything you say is needed to demonstrate passion and experience with my old Ferrari, including racing and driving from coast to coast. I have also shown the car at venues from Pebble Beach to local Cars and Coffee. Collecting the dozens of Concours trophies was not the most important part of such shows. Practicing what Peter Mullin calls "Educational Outreach" and teaching people about the early four cylinder racing days of Ferrari has been my primary goal. I still claim the role of a "true enthusiast". Best regards, Robert
