Earlier this morning a guy walked into my place of work and handed us a resume. I have no idea what this guy was thinking, I work at an engineering firm. Read the resume and you will understand. Here it is, hopefully it is readable.

Why haven't you called him in for an interview yet? He has handled great responsibility!! With a diverse background, a steal for $50k plus education and other benefits. :D

Hilarious. Another aspiring Hollywood wannabee. He's probably living in a cardboard box under the pier in Santa Monica.

I called where he works and talked to a co-worker of his. It is a serious resume. His co-worker said he is a really nice guy and is smart. She then told me to call back tomorrow when the manager is there.

So let me get this straight,
this guy applies for work at your place of business,
and you take it upon yourself to post his resume on the internet?

The crazy thing is that in 1999 he would have had a job offer the first day.

You have to admit there is something attractive about his approach. It doesn't waste anyone's time - except maybe his own, but even then less time than he'd waste going on interviews with employers who wouldn't meet his terms. I can see a certain kind of business out there who would at least want to talk to this guy and see what his story is.

I would say I don't believe it, but I have seen resumes close to that one, but none as funny.

He's looking for any job that pays at least 50k with benefits. Legally, he is copying the resume for prospective employers, no? The author is targeting any employer who meets their criteria.

How do you know that the resume author has not placed the resume in the public domain or a public database already and implies it to be copied or that his resume is not a commodity?

Besides, you and I both know that unless it hits the public domain, this guy is not going to be given a job at the engineering firm, and probably most other firms, without help and exposure.

Thank you, JaguarXJ6. Also, it would be a completely different story if I had left his name and location available to see.

Good point, but any sane person would know that an engineering company is not going to even consider hiring a Fine Arts major, unless they need a new janitor. :)

I think that one years experience at a carpet store is reason enogh to have hired him on the spot, signing bonus and all.

This resume could well describe many college students' accomplishments by their senior year of school. I had a EE degree, but no EE experience whatsoever when I left college.
