    Hey guys,
My '85 Euro sports the TRX wheels/tires. Time for an upgrade. What do you guys have on your 308/328 thats a 16 size? I think the TRX have way too much tire for my taste and preferred look. I'm looking at the 16 set from Superformance for about $800 + shipping but wondering what other options are there. I'm not particular if they are reproduction or originals, car isn't going anywhere so just need to find a look I like. Thanks guys!

This may not be helpful but my '85 US-spec QV has factory 7.00Jx16 front and 8.00Jx16 rear wheels. Prior owner put on a set of Goodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 tires, 205/55ZR16 front and 225/50ZR16 rear. These are all "spec" dimensions for my car. While the tires are economical (<$100 each, uninstalled), I think they look great (sidewall proportions and tread pattern) and have good reviews.

Who are you asking? The original poster, kossevv, stated that he has TRX wheels/tires and wants to replace them with 16" wheels and appropriate 16" tires.

Volvo 240/740 are the only cars that have the correct 5x108 bolt circle, not sure if anyone has figured out a Ferrari fitment for a 16". The 17" Polaris wheels that were Volvo OEM and the Eiker replicas might be close enough with the offset (about 20mm compared with OEM 308 Ferrari at 15mm), but you would have to do some further research to confirm. The Superformance replicas appear to be the wheel of choice for the non-ABS cars and for those who have the metric wheels and want conventional tire choices. BBS "basket weave" wheels were common in period, but no one seems inclined to them now, and I suspect only used 16 inch ones are available, even then people were probably doing 17" when they changed out wheels for style.

The Volvo guys like to go the other way...but typically with the 17" Ferrari rims.

Back in the day, the BBS wheels offered by some dealers and shops were still 16" - I picked up a set of the E50 magnesium center 16" BBS, 16x7/16x8, about 4 years ago. They share driving duty with the original 16" Ferrari wheels.

No, only Michelin made metric tyres. It never caught on so we are all back to Imperial sizes now.

The TRX wheel had a different bead profile (and was slightly different diameter) which eliminates the ability to mount a standard tire.

I wonder why only Ferrari and Volvo chose the same bolt pattern, is there some technical reason why all cars don't use some sort of universal pattern, would make it easier for the aftermarket to supply?

Hey, I am looking for a wheel discussion to note I am selling a set of OEM 1985 QV wheels....(size exactly as noted above)

Find my "Cleaning the garage" thread in classifieds and give me some pricing guidance.
"Expensive as f*&^&*(*"!! is where I am starting!!

That would leave me out of the Superformance replica discussion which are ok once centering rings are added....
