A question i am thinking about is the pricepoint Ferrari is setting with this beautiful car.

They clearly want to keep the market value at their end this time and not automatically hand it over to the first owner who buys the car at listprice.

But for me i start to compare with other Ferrari’s and doubt that when i would spend this amount of money if i would spend it on the Monza Sp1/2 or on one of the alternatives below.

    Monza SP1/2
    - approximately 1,6 mio
    - 499 pieces
    - roadlegal mostly only in EU, not US
    - 12 cylinders
    - open

    F50
    - approximately 2,0 mio
    - 399 pieces
    - worldwide roadlegal
    - 12 cylinders
    - open

    550 Barchetta/575 superamerica
    - approximately 350-400k
    - 448 pieces for the 550 and 559 for the 575
    - worldwide roadlegal
    - 12 cylinders
    - open

    LaFerrari - same era supercar
    - approximately value 2,7-3,0 mio
    - 499 production
    - worldwide
    - 12 cylinders

    LaFerrari Aperta
    - values i have seen 4,0-5,0 mio
    - 200 pieces out
    - worldwide
    - 12 cylinders

    A classic 750 monza
    - values i have seen on hammerprice 3-4 mio
    - 31 pieces
    - worldwide driveable
    - 4 cylinders

So all with all and as always hard to compare apples with oranges. But to me the 1,6mio feels pretty steep taking in account 499 cars and not being able to drive in the US. Maybe i should choose the f50 before the appreciate even more....

What does the Fchat community think about the list price of this timeless machine?

I have not been sent an official price yet so I don’t know what it is. The last info was Mr Galliera’s comments where he said the car was 1.6m EUR incl Italian tax (22%)...Have any of the confirmed Monza clients received the price list yet?
I think it is time to see who buys these cars for investment and who buys because they like to drive them. The „investment“ market is weak, prices are dropping and liquidity has dried up.
I am curious to find out

If a classic 750 Monza really could be gotten for the price you say, I'd say it's easily worth 2x the price of the new Monza given the vintage and rarity.

I personally see no value in the Monza at $1.6M. It's quite literally an 812 bodykit...

For the serious collector the Monza is priced about right. Compared to the F60 America it would be a bargain if the Monza was road legal. It isn't so think of the Monza as a 1 to 1 scale model that moves under it's own power!

I dont think the price is an issue, maybe not even for US buyers. I still have a hard time understanding why Ferrari is not bothering to make it road legal..but anyway, when you look at the price of regular production cars such as a 488 and 812, they are already in the $350 to $450k and are selling, even when owners know they will be worth 50% in 5 years.

And again let's not forget that the avg Monza buyer will probably have all of the ones in your list. They probably buy a $1m car a few times a year.

Nice design based on the 250 TR "Lucy Belle", and a good match as it is the same physical configuration. May be the 250 TR is worth 10 times more because they put a windshield in!

    The pricing feels about right.

Consider how many customers of the super-models (LaFerrari, LaFerrari Aperta, etc.) were turned away. Think how many used FXX's and 599 XX's and similar get bought and sold every year for ~$1.5M or whatever they go for. Think about how many weird, special models (I'm thinking in particular from Lamborghini) get sold every year.

There is a market out there for $1M+ track cars. It's occurring as we speak.

I really hope this is an exercise in the future of Ferrari design. Simpler, cleaner, curvy yet powerful looking and beautiful with less emphasis on aero crap everywhere. This front end is wonderful. Its only missing the egg crate grill. :)

I'm rather curious how the hood opens -- or does it?

It is a clamshell style, flips forward similar to the F40 hood.

Very doubtful! Ferraris are all about performance and aero is extremely important! That said, they announced that they will create a model that harks back to "classic shapes of the '50s and '60s". Personally, I don 't care for such shapes.
