He considers himself German. Most people adopt the nationality of their citizenship rather than their birth country, if the two are different.

 

In Nico’s case, he was born in Germany where his mother’s from.

Now I see it in its proper light - - a lighthearted joke about my anal-retentive correction of Nicoise/Niçoise.
