Well, if #78479 is indeed a GTB Turbo, that would explain the out-of-sequence number, so we certainly should work on that...
    # 80682 is also an interesting case: if you see the warranty card, which I managed to catch on E-Bay a few years ago, it was filled as if the car has entered the US indeed, but it seems that it did not, as the car was definitively for sale in Europe with only the delivery miles on the odometer about six years ago...

Bertrand, myself and a few others do indeed keep registries and listing of cars. We exchange regularly and cross-check as much as possible between persons willing to share and to help, and try to avoid "old wives' tales" about "my car is the last of this, the only one in that color, etc...and try to source any of those information back to the first story teller. We are probably not yet always accurate, but do our best to be reasonably so...many question remain about affirmations (= the total of 543 "serie 2" GTBs, for instance...)
We are still missing many, many cars: those which are in countries where people do not like to share VINs or chassis numbers; those which left for countries where very few information is available (South America, for instance: I remember a picture of some 328s crossing the Andes mountains...and how it infuriated me not to know their chassis numbers) ; those hidden in barns, garages, etc...those that have been destroyed...
Each time we find ONE new confirmed chassis number, we rejoice...

Thank you both: I had two of them, that one was the less perfect of the two (but also that is a great car indeed), sold to an happy Belgian Fchatter.

I miss that car as it had the "AL" plate, like my name: here there aren't vanity plates.

But I still have the best of the two (an '88)… ;)

    ciao

Alberto, isn’t that’s the 328 Turbo with the 2.0ltr. Turbo engine?

According to my information (and I have the entire VIN from more than one source) 78479 is a US version 328. None of this information is absolute, even factory records have some errors. Additionally it is not the only car built out of order, there are quite a few. Makes you wonder just how haphazard or maybe "engineered" VIN assignment is.

I know 82960 and 82961, the last 2 US cars made were both ordered and requested to be the very last US car made. I used to work on 82960 and I am friends of the owner of 82961 and find the story amusing. Both were told it was the last one. I have quite a few pictures of 82961. It is in a collection, never driven and still has Maranello air in the tires. Both have full leather interiors. 82961 is Red/tan with a special order black anodized grill.

That sticker in the book from Ferrari North America installed by them tells me that car was indeed here but either was flipped to a buyer in Europe or the car in Europe had a faked VIN. Have seen both happen.

Sorry to ask this, but why does it still called 328?

Front grill. I'd post a picture but in the infinite wisdom of this establishment I am no longer allowed to do so.

I think the photo limits may no longer be in place with the new software.

Also would not be the first Ferrari owner who moved a car to his other home and later sold it..

That's very interesting. I've never seen a black grille before.

Ferrari only made 2 we know of. This owner has a large collection and most are rather customized by the factory. I took a picture of the other half in front of the Enzo, F40, 288, La Ferrari, La Ferrari Aperta, F50, and FXX. Only place I know they are all together.

There are some cars in Europe with Black front grill but those are aftermarket parts to my belief.
