My English is not so good to understand the correct meanings of 'I figured I would be preaching to the choir': I'm curious to know what you wanted to say! :)

And another time capsule, #81550 (ZFFWA20B000081550) (thanks Bertrand and Matthias). A '89 of course.
420 kms on the odometer, or about 280 miles. 200.000 euros.
It was already for sale for the same price, with the same mileage in München, Germany, in April 2015, so the buyers are not exactly rushing for these "brand new" 328s:

Preaching to the choir means telling something to a group of people who you know already are likely to agree with you.

Several 328 GTB's are coming up for auction in Scottsdale in January.

I've never seen 68647 before, only an entry in the registry. So it's nice that it's seeing the light of day. It has ~15,000 miles on it.

Probably the last chance to get a low mileage concave wheel 328 GTB, if that's your thing. :)

As far as brand new cars are concerned, my money would go to this one:
    https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=271176518&damageUnrepaired=NO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&isSearchRequest=true&makeModelVariant1.makeId=8600&makeModelVariant1.modelId=9&maxMileage=5000&pageNumber=1&scopeId=C&sfmr=false&fnai=prev&searchId=03f21a33-6005-ec60-5823-561e4f269ba3

Nerofer, you probably know more about this one , or maybe I missed the thread...…

After 1 328gts and 3 308gts QVs (all sold for way below current prices), back on the lookout :)

    Cheers,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,

Sorry, but no: no other information than what it is in the description. And that a "time capsule" 308 is extremely rare, much, much more so than a "time capsule" 328.
As said previoulsy, with most time capsules, there is only one question to be answered: buying it, why not, if you are ready to spend that money, but what for?
If you want to drive it, as soon as you pull the gear lever in first, it will start to loose value; on the other hand, if buying it is just for looking at it, better invest in a poster.

I agree, too nice to drive = many things to sort before driving again, so add another 10.000 for belts hoses, rubbers etc... . Anyway, apart from a museum, don't see many places to take this one. Would prefer a 30.000km model (odometer reading obviously ;-) at 1/4 of the price :)))

If the Scottsdale auctions are any indicator, prices for 328 GTB are down. The only car to break $100,000 was the '89. Yeah, yeah, MY '89, it was also the only red one of the three. Even so, ending at $106,400 it was below the estimate of $120,000-$140,000.

Well, a 1988 (MY 1989) swedish GTB with only 765 kms on the odometer has just made 170.000 Euros in Japan. So yes, end 1988, and MY 1989, and time capsule, but the number is not bad at all, especially considering the color scheme: Rosso Corsa with Rosso Leather...
We have Rétromobile here in two weeks, and a low mile (14.500 kms, about 9.000 miles) GTS will be auctionned there; will be interesting to follow, as that car has been for sale at a high price for the last five years or so, and didn't find an owner...

I will say it again. I disagree in every way. The same can be said of every new car ever sold and it makes no sense there either. For $100,000 that is cheaper in adjusted dollars than the new price in 1988. So what if it depreciates? Most things I buy depreciate. I don't want someones used clothes, I don't want someones used shoes and so what if I don't want someones used car? I want a new one and I want the wear and tear to be mine.

We did exactly that with a 1990 TR and every rock chip is ours and it is worth more now than when we bought it so how was that a bad decision?

Your Retromobile example is a good one even though it has 9000 miles. A brand new 88 328 today would be about $170,000 adjusted dollars. If it sells for high estimate someone got a screaming deal on a 328 with low miles.

Just to add to the point of low mileage cars. If you buy a low mileage version and drive the same amount of miles as everyone else (whatever that is, I don't know, 2000 miles/year?), then in ten years you will still have the low mileage car compared to everyone else.

This is how it's played out with my 328 GTB which I bought 13 years ago with 16,900 miles. I paid top of the market for a 328 GTB, in the US anyway. Admittedly I don't drive it enough, but if I did it would still be a low mileage car 13 years later.

Not sure it matters much. Still have to do those majors. And man, I think Ferrari seats wear based on age, not use! :)

Yeah, if it sells in that estimate, assuming it's a good car, then that is a great buy; at least based on where the market has been. A few years ago that might have been a $150,000 car.

Or to Rifledriver's point, it used to be a $170,000 car. :)

Forget the miles and price for a moment and take in the view. Love the color combo, red body, black interior. How French! Good luck to all involved.
