The replacement will be around 20% more expensive. Usually it takes some months from the date of introduction until the start of deliveries to dealers or buyers respectively. My guess is it will arrive at the German show rooms somewhen in the middle of the year. With regard to still “buy or not to buy“ the actual 488 I would say: It could become quite unique to possess a V8 turbo-driven mid-engine Ferrari (w/o KERS), that has been produced for just four years and now disappears forever....
If this is your first Ferrari then best option is to get the 488 now because you will not be able to get an early model of the successor Those go to loyal multiple purchases customers.Make sure you negotiate an early position on future models of your choice.See you have to buy one first in order to move up the rankings later
LOL. This is a sign of how ridiculous the exotic car collectors market has become. People grasping at any meaningless "unique" trait to justify the value and ownership.
It is not just a facelift, I would rather call it successor. Thats what I was told by mydealer. 488 is dead - successor at Geneva Motor Show. Sorry for the misunderstanding terminology. Besides this, as said, one must remember that the 488‘s got a predessor already... 488 SUCCESSOR will have anelectrically driven frontaxle. Therefore they obviously have to adjust the chassis at the front end. It will be interesting to see how the final outcome looks like. Remark: the Information I am sharing here is a mixture of news that I got from my dealer, from friends that own Ferraris and partly also from Ferraris publications itself. So, no, I am not an insider. Thus, it may happen that things turn different. Ferrari themselves still seem to be struggling with finding the final way. Not surprising that much, I am talking about a time range until 2023...
Thats definitely a valid point of view. Everything deeming to be rare is being projected to become or at least stay valueable. Actually I again refer to my dealer here who is one of the best situated ones in the region. May be they are not yet keen on selling the newcomers ...
F142 plataform is still alive. For geneva motorshow we will have the 488 successor, no hybrid technology. Couple months after that we will have the awaited hybrid car, with some very unique features. *If any website wants to use this information, please give credits to the FerrariChat community
Big Brother sounds exciting to me Hope they knock it out of the park on design and technical excellence
Temporary successor will be a 488 modificato then 2 years later the real replacement will be V6 Hybrid
So is this settled? 2019 - 2020 488M Turbo 2021+ 488 Successor V6 Hybrid 2019 Big Brotha V8 Hybrid $$$?
As always, Ferr, thanks for your contribution to this forum. I understand you can't divulge everything you know but I must say the whole thing is "Sofa King" confusing ;-) If the 488 successor (new platform; due spring 2019) is NOT hybrid then what is the mystery car below - the F142-based FL? And it's hybrid (judging by the warning symbols), yes? Last hurrah for F142, J50-like special, gobs of power, big numbers and luxury but not necessarily the sportiest of the mid-engines, maybe? To compete against that 3-seat monstrosity from McLaren? Image Unavailable, Please Login
IMO - car below is BB or F1xx? but not F142. I think LB or F142FL will have a new interior and other interesting bits to differentiate it enough from 488GTB/Spider
Heard today from my dealer that the next car we'll see is actually the 812 Aperta. He'd already seen pics of the car. Guess we'll see what happens in March.
OK, so let's run with that and see if it meshes with ferr9000's "hints". If it's F1xx (i.e., successor), this doesn't align with ferr's statement that successor is non-hybrid. If it's the hybrid BB (of new F1xx LB, yes?) then the seemingly production ready prototype would be quite a bit ahead of its release date as surely the F142 M (FL) would not come out AFTER both F1xx LB and BB are released - or would it? As a newly created, cheaper model due to amortized F142 design and tooling? With hybrid thrown in to make it relevant? So the car in the picture is either BB or F142-M (FL) if (big IF) they can integrate hybrid in existing platform.
Ok so IMO only: 1. F142FL is LB or 488 Successor and to be shown in Geneva with NO hybrid 2. F1xx is BB the V6/8?, hybrid that Fer9000 talks about being released by mid year 3. IMO Only, F142FL will have the new interior and other bits to significantly differentiate it from the current 488 4. F1xx i.e BB, already has a number number and is known (to some) but not to me
I recommend follow my latest posts and you will find some clues and answers very clear. Incorrect. This has been already answered/posted. I highly doubt there are pics of it. The first 812 Spider unit was “finished” 6 months ago and it was on black color and we still have to wait several months to see it, officially.
I don't think so. It makes it the same layout as every other high volume production turbo mid-engine competitor for the past decade or so. There are also many thousands of the 488 produced. Some are saying the chassis will live on as well.
Come on people, the car that will be launched in Geneva will just be a facelift of the 488 as stated many times including by ferr9000. Enough already.
Ferr9000 will hybrid big brother and future 488 sucessor have carbon chassis or still aluminum? Grazie
Surely big brother will have new aluminum chassis reinforced with carbon parts . Hybrid system will add weight so they have to save kilos and improve rigidity.
Aluminum vs carbon Sure carbon is strong and light but too light car has some weaknesses as a road car. Also carbon can not absorb and stomach small bounces well enough as aluminum does. They feel like rear rebounds like hell making the ride very uncomfortable. I have no problem making car with aluminum. For me at least, all aluminum bodied Ferrari gives this grace to the ride quality along with suspension setup. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
