Hi guys... I am trying to decide between a 2014 458 spider and a 2015 458 coupe. The spider doesn't have navi/bluetooth because it wasn't standard equipment. It is 5k more for the spider. The spider also doesn't have the AFS. How important are these things?

Does anyone actually use in-car navigation anymore? The only car with a navigation system worth a damn is Tesla but those cars are unbearable.

The lights , nav and 5 k don't seem to make a decision

The big question is do you want a coupe or a spider . Each has a different look and different experience ..

Can you test drive or ride both .. we will know which you like and then go with your heart

I agree, there is something special about a spider to me. I had a 430 spider, went to a 458 coupe and then had to go back to 458 spider because I missed the drop top. they say your a spider guy or your not. drive both and see what moves you. I have Nav and have never used it once.

Best Navi is in Tesla. On my second S now. Absolutely bearable and best cars I’ve ever owned.

spider....you get the best of both worlds. Just can't see the motor on spider, but then again you can't see the sky above with the coupe....

Spider all the way. I went from a 430 coupe and considered myself a coupe guy....then I bought the 458 Spider. All I can say is that the spider experience is like no other....

Spider. Two cars for the price of one. Can put the rear window down with the top up and hear the engine exhaust music.

I have nav. Not user friendly. Never use it.

Navigation is next to useless on the 458, especially compared to what's on your phone. Also, I vote for Spider.

Greatest waste of money today is paying for NAV in any car. And the one in the 458 is useless.

There's an old Jerry Seinfeld joke that applies here when you talk about car GPS vs Waze or Google Maps or Siri... It goes like this

"So what's the deal with Chinese people still eating with chopsticks?????

    ---- they've seen the fork!"

I have Nav in my Spider and I never use it. The nav doesn't hold a candle to Waze and is such a pain to use that I don't even bother with it. Get yourself a good cradle for your phone and use that whenever you need nav.

The nav in the 458 is so useless that it lets you get lost :)
It actually happened to me the first time I test drove a 458 with a factory representative in a french countryside - the test that was supposed to last 20 mn or so took actually more than one hour to get back to the starting point (we struggled to have the nav providing any help and eventually just relied on road signs), and I really did not complain ;)

I bought a really expensive telescope (astronut) that came with Argo Navis, the equivalent of NAVI, which helps find all the stars. Problem is the Argo is made in Australia and was programmed for the Southern Hemisphere. Couldn’t find a single star from our location in VA. My Astro buddies were rolling on the ground in tears........

    Ferrari Nav as mentioned, worthless.
I only use Waze for directions.

    Silly is right.

Last week I was in a remote location which had no cell service.

Waze did not work at all. Nor did any phone maps.

Nav system is satellite based and worked perfectly.

Of course if you never venture to remote locales, you’ll be ok.

But what’s the fun in that??

Very personal choice if you ask me.

I'm always lost. So although I agree sat nav on any Ferrari could be better, I use it all the time.

Regardless of Italia vs. Spider, (and also regardless of brand and model), I always go for the most, better optioned car. A 458 without sat nav and bluetooth would be a deal-killer for me. So many great 458s out there, that what is really, really hard is to find a car without such basic options such as the sat nav and bluetooth. And if you're buying with the foreseeable intent of reselling, that's a big no no, imho.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

I had a 458 spider for about 3 years and I couldn’t tell you if I had navigation or not. I’m not even sure if my 488 spider has navigation either. I always use my iPhone. Best ,Kirk.

By the way , get the spider.
