Lyle Tanner is an old friend, and one of the leading lights of the early FOC (US). When I first knew him, he was working for the City of L.A., but soon got involved in Ferrari parts, which has been his occupation ever since. He has owned a number of interesting F-cars, including 0407GT and one of the rare "interim" berlinettas. He is now in Texas. He is not related to Hans, except in the biblical sense that we all came from Adam and Eve. Or not.

Lyle Tanner ran a Ferrari parts company for many years specialising in parts for the early cars. I have one of his early catelogues. I wonder what happened to this company or does it still exist? just one man's opinion tongascrew

Swallowed-up by the Ferrari Parts Exchange website, which is now owned by FERRPARTS, I believe.....I still see online pages in their website trees that bear 'Lyle Tanner Enterprises' on the page.

If you've received your latest edition of the Prancing Horse you'll notice two photos taken by Chuck Tanner! I think that is Lyle and Kathy's illegitimate son. Niles would know because he was there at insemination.

Hans Tanner wrote a book about his clandestine Cuban activities in 1962.
    "Counter-Revolutionary Agent - Cuba"

All very interesting but I still think that when Pebble Beach awards the Hans Tanner award they should know it commemorates a murderer (killed his girlfriend on the way out). They should investigate who their awards are named after in case of blowback.

I just received his Cuban book. I'll write a short book review if anyone is interested --- or does a good one exist somewhere?

Today I was looking through some storage boxes and discovered that I have two copies of Tanner's Ferrari, not just one as I had believed. They are similar, but different. Both are first editions, but one is the British printing and is virtually perfect. The other is the American printing, has a torn dust jacket and some stained pages, but is otherwise intact, and is signed by the author with the name of the recipient illegible. Although I can't make out the name, the words "All the best & Hiram Walker martinis. Hans Tanner" are clear. I can't imagine a martini made with Hiram Walker.....
