Thank you Marcel. Sad news indeed. His prominent campaigning of Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeos for many years in vintage racing reminded all of us of Enzo Ferrari's long-running success as a manager and builder of successful race cars and teams on the world stage.

A real enthusiast. I used to live just a couple of miles away. Id drive by the local tennis court and I'd see his prewar Lancia parked out front because he drove it quite regularly. His house had a big courtyard out back visible from the local bike/hiking path. It regularly looked like the storage lot of a museum. He came by the Ferrari dealer I was at with his Alfa P3 on the trailer and dragged us out to look at it and said "Thats real Italian Racing Red".
He drove his toys and drove them enthusiastically.

Great guy, the car world lost a good one.

A really nice man, I was proud to call a friend. He embodied the "true" spirit of vintage racing.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Readers chose Victor Varela's outstanding capture of Peter Giddings drifting his Alfa Romeo Monza as our best vintage car racing photo of 2018.

After a battle with cancer, Giddings crossed the finish line for the final time in early January. The ever-gracious gentleman racer has long been a fan favorite at vintage events around the globe. As Victor's photo expertly illustrates, Giddings shared his fantastic collection of pre- and post-war race cars in the best way -- driving them as they were meant to be driven. Always with a kind word or keen insight, he was one of the all-time good guys and his enthusiasm around the paddock will be sorely missed. For more on Peter, please visit PeterGiddings.com.
