Is that where the position of the downstream sensor is further back along the catalytic converter ... toward the muffler ... which provides a greater length of catalyst material for the exhaust gas to pass through before reaching the sensor? Steve
Just keep clearing the codes ..... it will eventually just go away and all will be fine. Car is better without cats.
What are you smoking? Why do you think that it will magically stop throwing a cat efficiency code if you reset it enough times?
radlu - are you saying it will eventually adapt to no cats? do you have exp with this? or just conjecture? thx.
You do not know what you're talking about. You need to stop spreading misinformation. You are doing a disservice to the Ferrari community by presenting fiction as fact.
I am sure that disconnecting the battery cleared his code … for a while. It doesn't solve the issue just clears the codes.
skid - I was wondering if the ecu could adapt to no cats.... if there was enough range in the st and lt fuel trims and data-tables to adapt to no cats...... I presume that is not the case. Strange thing we are just talking about pre-cats.... and not the primary cats...... a rather finicky program in these f cars.
Definitely not enough range in lt & st trim. It is a solid system and not really troublesome. The trouble is when you start trying to bypass the emissions systems, THEN you have issues with a CEL. Funny, that is exactly what it is designed to do; as is every other car in existence. The precats are there to meet cold start emissions, they have virtually no impact on warm running emissions. Since it was for the US only Ferrari just used the systems they had and made a tweek to the monitors. The range is fairly tight but it checks that cat's efficiency, like all of those monitors. Since there are 2 monitors you get an error when you remove either of the cats. A fairly tight range makes it more difficult to trick the system, but not impossible.
Has any one tried those magnum electrical resisitors? Sent from my LM-X210(G) using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Lol .just wondering if any one used the magnum simulators any thoughts? Its like a resisitor which sends the singnal back that everything is fine.. Sent from my LM-X210(G) using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I've entirely eliminated CEL for cats by coding the calibrations within the Ignition ECUs using my latest Swiss Army Knife tool. It's a guaranteed way to ensure absolutely no cel for cats ever. If you still need to pass emissions you can leave them coded in but adjust calibration for sensitivity of min/max thresholds. I can do this for both F430 and 360's...
Where are you located.what is the cost? Here in florida no emission testing. Sent from my LM-X210(G) using FerrariChat.com mobile app
