I think they got the car's top speed wrong. They said 217.5 mph. Pretty sure it's "in excess of 350 km/h (217.5 mph)" and not that. Doesn't really matter as that car isn't driven, though. :(

That's always the question, especially when it is a (supposed) "telephone bidder."

any bid that does not end up in a purchase is subject to question ... lots of smoke and mirrors can be played in a live auction format

The Apertas I've seen listed from legitimate dealers outside the US are asking $6 million & up. The US market looks to be a lot smaller in comparison, so I wouldn't fault him for turning it down.

One traded in Italy recently for approx €4.2m, so even adjusting for the US vs Europe, the estimate did seem pretty high. It's early days for the aperta in the secondary market though.

Dont forget that the US is peculiar market as the offer will be limited to US specs cars.

Considering the potential buyer who offered 6.1M at auction would also have paid a 10% buyers fee, the offer was more like $6.7M.

probably wont be black listed for the next supercars though despite none of his cars having a single mile added on them and all being sold.

I don't see a reason why he should be black listed. He seems to buy any car Ferrari makes and pays a lot more for complete customization. That's exactly what Ferrari wants...high price repeat business.

I don't know exactly what Ferrari or you define as quickly, but it appears he keeps them for a couple years rather than immediately put up for sale, which to me would be more like flipping. If/when he stops customizing the "regular" Fcar models, I bet they stop offering him the supercars.

Edit: Delivery on his Aperta was March 2017 so nearly 2 years. https://blog.dupontregistry.com/celebrity-cars/michael-fux-gets-laferrari-aperta/

He kept his coupe a bit longer than the Aperta. But he just waited for the period defined by Ferrari (which varies from 1 year to 2 years) to sell his Aperta. My point and i know it's my opinion, there are many more deserving owners who will actually drive the cars. The only redeeming aspect i see in Fux collection is that he does ship his cars for charity events. So credit where it's due. It just sucks that Ferrari allocated him a Laf or an Aperta at MSRP but denied other buyers who actually drive their Ferraris which are cars, let's not forget that.
