To be fair he was with the stewards for his punishments and see what they do all weekend from their perspective. Probably good for him.

IMO the punishment wasn't for the shove, but more as a learning experience for him from a collective of incidents (crashes, steward inquiries and so on). See Grosjean getting a raceban for the 2012 Spa crash. He wouldn't have gotten a ban if it was his first time...
