Two clients of mine have seen the new limited series production line. There are two distinct looking prototypes on the line there. Obviously heavily clad in body blankets and camo. However they have different overall lengths, widths and perhaps most telling, different looking windshield curves and wheelbases. Again they were heavily clad in camo and nobody was allowed close. However, there two different mules in the new limited series production area.

    Just my 2 cents.

Except for the stellar world beating chassis on the 720.
I wish ferrari would invest here.

Yeah, the 6 years gap is huge. In another interview a few years ago Dini said hybrid-related technologies were (and still are..) constantly evolving and that Ferrari had a 10-years vision into the future. BB is just the first step into bringing this tech into the normal production range of cars and will be spread across it in the next years (the way I see it, V12s will still be the top dogs in terms of power).

Maybe you're right... but it's strange... because the Ferrari in the video doesn't make noise ;)

IMO if not for the regulations, a nice mid engine slot between a mass produced V6 turbo/hybrid (replacement) and a full CF LaF V12/hybrid would be a CF chassis unassisted NA V12 (LaF minus KERS) - the car everyone has been waiting for Ferrari to build. Sadly, that time has passed. That car would be light, fast, custom, reliable and sound awesome. But it would not beat the LaF on paper nor the cheaper assisted and forced induction competitors and it would not pass crazy EU regulations.

A Ferrari dealer told me that Ferrari would stop making 488 this April. Is this true?

At the beginning of March Ferrari reveals a newer model, so called "488 facelift", so the production of the original 488GTB will be discontinued.

Thanks. Dealer was pushing me to buy the 488 which he has in stock. The 488 facelift would have a long wait-list itseems.
Is the facelift expected to differ drastically from the current one?

I ordered a GTB back in November here in the Midwest and have been in contact with the dealer pretty much on a weekly basis. He said there is no more orders being taken for the 488's from his dealership.

There'll be a new exterior and interior but heavier and slower than the Pista. :(

The price would be comparable to Pista or the regular 488?

Obviously cheaper, just under 300k base I'm guessing. Pista had a 345k base btw.

Very high demand for the facelift. Ferrari must have already got millions in deposits for the upcoming rehashed 458. :D

I love Ferrari and actually had some of them.
But they are too slow in changing this line.
IMHO 488 is a restyling of a 458 with minor changes especially in the interiors that look dated now.
100% I will not change my 488 for it. I'll eventually change model (GTC4 or 812) or brand for while.

I truly love McLaren's Performance, but they are truly disturbing to look at. But then again Ferraris are beautiful, but slower. They're not making a car to compete with 720S. Pista can't beat a 720S and if the facelift is even slower, then it's game over. Maybe it'll beat a 600 LT. :(

720s is not actually a competitor to 488. several years ago mclaren told that they are preparing a model which'll sit above the 650s and compete with the f12. then 720 unexpectedly replaced the 650 in the same way it replaced the lame 12c.

Has anybody thought about 488 gtb vs 458 speciale? They both have a similar price range now.

They can't take an 'official' order on a car that has not been introduced yet.

True. Dealers are often less informed about details of a new release car than we are and they like to delay and toil over their lists as pricing and allocations firm up. Of course most of the unofficial list is ready to go since we seem to do a great job of hyping the car and throwing money at the dealer to get in line. Even the car after it has a list of likely of who will be offered. On a very limited car you'll know pretty soon where you stand if the GM even answers your call.
