c'mon PP, you surely know that the Met Bureau have "homogenised" all the temperature records before 1970, using a methodology that, despite multiple FOI requests, they refuse to disclose? There are people who happen to have copied the historic record before "homogenising" and surprise, surprise, they adjusted all the older readings down and all the post 1950 readings up. The actual temperature increase this century, from observations not tampered with, is 0.7 degrees - a steady rate of warming that began prior to the industrial revolution and has been happening at various rates since the last ice age.
And a 100 years of records in the timeframe of climate is a blink of an eye - statistically insignificant... HOWEVER the use of carbon based resources compared to the time need to form replacement material is so unbalanced that continuing at previous rates is clearly unsustainable. Not to mention pollution...

Yes, it's all about the sun, absolutely nothing to do with CO2. I began my career writing oceanographic software models, with the objective of predicting "100 year storms", which is what offshore rig and pipeline facilities have to be built to withstand. The maths and physics were extremely complex but it boiled down to the 11~13 year sunspot cycle. Then you have the earth's "wobble" (it doesn't spin in one spot) and the variations in our orbit of the sun, all dampened by ocean currents. Put all this together and you can explain the past and predict the future with reasonable accuracy. A key learning for me however was that you could create any outcome from a model that you wanted, because they depend on statistical techniques such as Monte Carlo simulation. This is how the CO2 scam got started, models that were fudged (with "feedback mechanisms") to massively inflate the CO2/water vapour effect. Ask any climate zealot to provide a single paper which proves the observed (not modelled) correlation between CO2 and temperature increase. It doesn't exist. Despite Kerrari's concerns, the carbon cycle is a vast mechanism and humans are but a miniscule part of it.
What other earth organism has ever ACCELERATED its carbon use to the same extent as humans did in the past 150 years? This is where the imbalance has come from.
Co2 is a trace gas, it's 0.04% of the atmosphere. Of this 4% is contributed by humans. However much extra is emitted is consumed by vegetation and ocean organisms, this is called the carbon cycle. The green lobby depends on emotive language like "imbalance" because there is no factual basis for their position, only computer models. I've tried to explain why they can't be trusted. Its all about politics. Take away AGW and the Greens have no purpose, millions of researchers have less funding and the renewables industrial complex (banks+manufacturers) no revenue.
What really upsets me is that the world has spent trillions on this hoax. That money could have lifted Africa out of poverty with reliable coal fired power, educated every child in the world and secured clean water for all people . Go to India and see the people burning cow dung for cooking fires and ask yourself what the real crisis is. Instead, we have windmills and panels that do nothing for most of the time and the likes of the Turnbull family making another fortune .
I i'm actually not talking about CO2 when I say imbalance, rather the HEAT and pollution that has been released by burning coal/ gas/ oil.
