I will be exchanging my 12yr old HV plates for the standard ca plates - but black/yellow to go with my 78 yellow

The DMV renewal just arrived- after 12yr. Jerry brown’s country now figured out they need to have a smog test for my car.

I have all the equipment in place, although the air pump belt keeps falling off- I can fix that.

Need recommendations on a test station in the Agoura, westlake, thousand oaks... area.

I had a good run for no testing.. it passed 12yrs ago- and it is in better driving tune now. The only mod is, i’m running 60 idle vs 55’s. Everything else is stock.

The problem is great driving tune may not be smog passing tune.

Plan is to find a station and get a pre-test to see where It’s at - and adjust from there.

    Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, there is no more pre-testing using the same machine that conducts the smog test for the State. Those machines are wired in 24/7 and require a VIN to be entered in order to conduct the test. That is , at least what I was told, last year from a reliable source. You need to find a tech with a exhaust gas analyzer to tune get the CO and HGC to the passing levels.

    What is the HGC level?
    All prior test:
CO2 — no issue way below required
    HC(ppm) no issues below required
NO (ppm) not a measured item
    CO% at 15mph - required 1.3
    At 25mph required 1.1
    CO% is the passing issue.

Tests on a 78 do not mention HGC

Typo, meant HC. Dialing in the CO should be no issue with an analyzer.
