When I had the exhaust on my 1972 246GT (Euro model) replaced 10 yrs ago or so it was missing the red tape and Ansa stickers. That was OK because it looks cleaner without them anyway, but at Concorso It I found some stickers for sale and got some.

How far from the end of the tailpipe does the sticker go?

A photo with a mm ruler lying on it would be best, as otherwise it will be hard to describe because the tip is slanted.

    Thanks in advance,

Next question is: Has anyone found a red replacement tape and stickers that don't melt when you actually drive the car hard on a hot summer day? Typically the driver's side tape and stickers go first.

My experience with Ansa USA after buying a $3200.00 sport exhaust which had the silver tape and all I wanted was the red tape. They refused to sell just the tape to me unless I bought the Ansa logo stickers, which I did not need as I had a spare set that I bought from Parker Hall years ago.

Turned out it was just electrical tape that they put in an envelope and charged $9 s&h fees. I'd much rather give the money to Parker Hall to provide him incentive to do more repro items.

Seems that even Parker's tape and stickers melt / char after awhile, especially on the driver's side. Maybe I should call 3M and ask if they have a high temp red tape . . . not that Parker hasn't already thought of that. The stickers may be a lost cause for cars that are driven.

Thanks for the heads up. No point in installing stickers that are going to turn brown.
I think I'll just keep the stickers for some future date.

I ended up painting the red stripes on (high temp engine block paint).

    Cheers

That's a cool idea (pun intended!) but how do you get the paint to stick to chrome? My black paint lasts, maybe, 2000 miles (one year) and starts to go away. I use a high temp Krylon product. I'll take any advice you may have (except "don't drive it").

I found some red duct tape that did a good job.

You put the red band off the chrome....prime a white strip of engine paint first for brightness...

My ANSA shield is about an inch away from the red stripe..

I'll try to remember to get a picture...

Red duct tape is also a good idea...cheap enough to renew it!

George, ya gotta narrow down that tip to a brand of duct tape so I get the right stuff. We may not have it "south of the border." I'm willing to try anything.

Did you put your new reflector bezels on? Hope you're planning to come down to the 2010 FCA Annual Meet at the New Jersey Motorsport Park toward the end of Sep 2010.

Tex, if the tape doesn't work, that's a great idea. Thanks!

ANSA guys have to stick together..

I was sorry to hear the "tape and sticker" story above, as they always take good care of me, but I go direct to the National level....

There's ONE guy that takes care of the entire Ferrari Market in North America, dealers, shops everything!

Resurrecting this old thread: which of the Ansa stickers is correct for a 1974 US Dino GTS: Ansa sport or Ansa marmitte? Where does one get the correct stickers with the white border nowadays?

    Thanks in advance,
    Eugene

    Hi Matthias,
Could you kindly advise which are the correct ANSA exhaust stickers for a 1972 car, ANSA SPORT or MARMITTE ANSA type? I see the former in your post above but the latter in the "Bible" (page 129).
    Thanks for your help,
    Kind regards,
    Chris.

Since I'll be replacing my old ANSA exhaust, I went about procuring ANSA stickers from a couple different sources. I use 1/2" red electrical tape for the stripes. Lo and behold the stickers arrived today and I just noticed that they're different. One is "MARMITTE ANSA" (from maseratinet.com) and the other is "marmitte ANSA" (from Auto Ricambi). So which is correct for the Dino and why would there be two different versions? I wish I had noticed the difference BEFORE I ordered them!

ansa sticker should have a white border not black.
red tape is less than 1/2”. more like 3/8”. see the above picture of the green dino.

I guess a good starting point is the Ansa web site.

    http://ansamarmitte.it/en/ansa-tech-srl/

I bet everyone will be rushing out to look at their stickers now:) I must admit i hadnt noticed the difference.

I used a product that dentists use I THINK its called tape n tell from memory, its high temp to 130C, available in red and 7mm wide.

That would imply that all the ANSA MARMITTE stickers you see out there on cars are incorrect...

Perhaps they are, lots of ANSA stickers with black borders are incorrect as far as I know. Copyright issues perhaps!
