    For whatever its faults, Barchetta/Anamera sometimes has some great coverage. The following article on Cavallino notes that the formerly restored as 250TR #0726 has been rebuilt by Butch Dennison as 290MM #0606, which it always was. Some lovely pictures of #0606 too. Elsewhere at Cavallino look out for #0744, the unique 412MI, which has had the full Classiche treatment and looks stunning in Silver. If anyone has any, post some pictures........

    290MM 0606 and Mairesse alongside eventual winner Ron Flockhart in Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D Type XKD 603 (86) and Duncan Hamilton in XKD 601 (88) at Forez/St Etienne 2hrs in 1957.

    I see that #0606 was photographed in the Butch Dennison tent, but the job was actually done by Neil Twyman here in the UK.

    Rear chassis and various ancillary parts, everything else is new. Barchetta quotes the following list by John Godfrey.

    (1) the original rear chassis frame complete with gearbox
    (2) transaxle,
    (3) de Dion,
    (4) drive shafts and hubs,
    (5) transverse leaf spring,
    (6) disc brakes with shocks installed,
    (7) bell housing,
    (8) damaged front wishbones,
    (9) drop arm,
    (10) track rods,
    (11) steering wheel and column,
    (12) gearshift and linkage,
    (13) various other bits and pieces

    From the article sounds like the track day is dying? Not hard to imagine as prices of these car go from unreal to real unreal. I recall in the early 2000's (IIRC) Peter Giddings was thrashing around Road America in a pre war alfa and a 250 GTO. Not sure if the GTO was his but it was in his paddock. Sadly these cars are fading to static art rather than what they were made for.

    Yes, that is true... the car was in Dennisons tent but the work was done by Neil Twyman who was there as well. There was also a book on the table showing the history and the restoration of 0606, both the first one and the recent work.
