    Dougal,

I can't give you much feedback yet because I haven't driven the car on either set. It's a 308GT4 which is just coming out of a three year restoration. The XWXs are on the standard wheels and the CN36s are on 7-1/2 x 14. I purchased the Michelins because they're the correct tire, and the Pirellis based on the expected superior performance. I do like the look of the XWXs more, and they performed just fine on my 330GTC.

I do look forward to hearing how you get on. I think they are both great.

Am i right in assuming you have the full profile tyres on your GTC (205VR14 instead of 205/70VR14).

Although i have made a small film about the 330 GTC tyres. I think it is more worth while watching the 330 GTS film on this web page https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/330-gts.html I hope you find it informative. I think it is my favorite of all the films I've made.

did you like the 330 GTS film.

I keep getting suggestions about how to make our films better, and i think we could do a better job of them. But they might not get done then if they are more complicated, so i just get on with it. As a result some times if we have to stop half way through to discuss what kind of curry sauce we want with our fish and chips, then so be it.

Anyone know which 16”wheels these are without my needing to take them off? From online research, I believe Speedlines, but wondering if anyone knows better. The wider 8” rears have the tiny groove running around just inside the flat face which I think is the Speedline giveaway.

From what I’ve learned on line I believe they are magnesium alloy Speedlines. I’ll take one off in the next few weeks and pic the back.

Silkscreen lettering "normally" indicate Campagnolo.....Speedline is by far the rarest supplier.
But IIRC Speedline emulates the silk screening too.
I think I have seen ONE set, my entire life...

You can see in my set, For Sale in the Ads, the raised cast lettering used by Cromodora….
The only real way is to examine the back as my latest pictures in my ad did, comfirming manufacturer.

    Anyone need them??

Well by elimination, my 16" DO say Cromodora in cast lettering on them, so we are down to either of the other two.

I will offer this, those may well be Speedline, I only say because of the smooth surface of the back spokes.
In the 14"s, Campy replicated the approach of the first Cromodoras, and you can see the spokes even in the back side of the wheel, I am painting one today I will show what I mean....

Those match mine which match other on-line posters who have called them the magnesium alloy Speedlines...pretty rare. Your front will say 120926 with C 11.15 and 0616147. Some later Speedlines do in fact say Made in Italy and Speedline on the inside, but apparently the early mag alloys did not say Speedline and these were the first mag alloy 16"s available. I have no proof and am no expert so take with more than one grain of salt. The raised cast lettering on the outside were the later 16"s found on the QV cars.

I think we have it, although I lust noticed the "round wheel" date indicator, in your set.

Now we have 14"s AND 16" both advertised in our FerrariAds!!
Take your pick (I have three sets of 14"s myself)…..

Now I will have to put up some pictures, when I finish work on them today!
It turns out ONE of my front wheels bears very little casting marks at all, and is HAND STAMPED "4 78"!!

So it's correct in all respects, but a very early wheel.
The wear and corrosion bear that out, it's Grandpa to the other three wheels!
It's also "full spoke" on the rear, opposed to the later versions......PITA to clean and sand for paint!

    Interesting.....

Yes, the outside face of my "1978" 16" wheel bears no raised lettering at all.....

BTW I need new metal valves for the Cromodoras. Anyone know where I can get the OEM or equivalent? Thanks.

I put a new set of XWXs on my car probably 5 years and maybe 10.000 miles ago... at over $400 each if I remember correctly. Noticed last week that the rears are looking pretty worn, whereas the fronts still have plenty of tread.
Anyway I just ordered a pair of new XWXs for 260€ each (including 2 day shipping!)... which is about 290$. Makes me think Michelin's relative monopoly position 5 years ago is now gone, now that Pirelli, Vredstein, Dunlop now all have "classic" offerings.

I really like the way the XWXs drive and ride. I wouldn't put anything else on my car, if only for the looks :). Especially now that the price has come down.
