My passenger door wasn't shutting. The window was going up and down on trying to shut but the door wouldn't catch and stay shut. Just a bump and back out from door frame. I got frustrated and slammed the door, and it stayed shut. If I slam the door it works fine, but embarrassing in public - LOL. Any know fix?
    Thanks

Try adjusting the latch on the door or the striker. Bolts may have loosened up a bit and it moved. May also just need some spray lube.

Do you still have the nylon sleeve on the striker, or has a bit come off and got stuck in the latch. You should be able to tumble the latch in the door edge with one finger if it is free enough

Door alignment issues should be easy to figure out.

Check the door hinge assembly for anything that may have come loose like door hinge pin or hinge mounting bolts.

Check also door striker and door catch for loose mounting bolts.

    Hope that helps.

By the way I had the same issue when I had my 360 Spider and I determined root cause to be the door hinge pin that came loose and already halfway from coming completely off. It's a cheap design......

Just push the pin back down and it's all good again.

The part on the car with the nylon sleeve is all good and tight. Not adjustable. I compared the doors and the driver's side works and when I open it, and use a ballpoint pen to simulate the door closing, the part in the door clicks and the paul turns. When I lift the door handle it moves to release and open the door. On the door that won't shut when I do the same thing, the part that moves and locks down does not lock down, Just returns to the open position.
Not a good description I know. When I shut the door the rod with the sleeve on the car should go into the slot with the catch in the door causing the catch to lock down and hold the door shut. It's not locking in the closed position. looks like I may have to take the door apart.

Looks like your door lock mechanism has gone bad.

My car is an F430 and I have the service manual & it shows how to take the door locks apart / replace the door locks.
Let me know if you need a copy and I will eMail you a copy.

As far i remember the striker is adjustable- if i remember correctly the 2 countersunk allen screws, screw into a steel backing plate which floats in the holes, this is your adjustment against the door seals.
Otherwise the lock it self must float, but i think it is the striker that floats

Mike, I took both countersunk allen screws out, and the plate they screw into is not floating. I guess the adjustment is on the door side?
    Thanks

    UPDATE!
Before I started taking the door apart, I started trying the key fob lock. It seemed like the fob was locking one door, while unlocking the other?
I turned the battery off for a few minutes, and on.
The locks started going crazy. On - off - on - off etc. Then stopped. Using the fob I lock and unlocked a few times. Went to the passenger door and it works fine now. Seriously. No mechanical adjustments were made to anything.
Chalk another one up to the electrical Gremlins?
    Stay Tuned.
