Hi Guys, I'm in the process of restoring my '85 QV GTS intake and throttle body and plan to powder coat both. (video coming soon). No prob to plug all the holes and ports and tape areas off, but my question is... Are there any rubber or heat-sensitive parts in the throttle body assembly that won't stand up to 350 degrees for 20 minutes? I'd love to just tape off the large air adjusting screw and the throttle mechansim, rather than disassembling everything. Not looking for shortcuts...just trying to avoid unnecessary tuning when I'm done. Thanks... PS...I'm not bead-blasting the intake . Hopefully stripper will do the trick. Soda and a good soak only if necessary.

My powder coating guy has a wall of color samples on metal (kind of like you see for house paint). Lots of reds, smooth, wrinkle, etc. If yours does as well, take a few outside and put them next to the engine - the one you want will probably become apparent.
Thanks. I powdercoat small-ish things like these in my shop with the Eastwood kit and oven. Works great. I found a powder supplier who says they have a match to Ferrari engine red with wrinkle. Will let you know how it goes...

Just powdercoated the intake plenum with the "ferrari red wrinkle" made by Pro Powder and Abrasive Supply. Great color and texture. In the pics below, the plenum is freshly done...the throttle body finish is dirty and 34 years old... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
