    Hi Guys

I have taken your advice and managed to open my brand new 488 Spider Valve permanently (no switch, just plugging golf tee)

The sound is awesome and loud to my taste. I dont have to wait to to reach 2500 RPM to hear the real Ferrari Sound.

Why not a switch to open and turn off to default stock sound.
1- In my neighborhood, there are couple supercars that sound so loud and we have never complained.
2- I Dont use my car for very long ride.

So, I am so happy with the result, and here below a video showing the exhaust sound after opening the valve permanently:

    The exhaust sounds much better!

Are there any other affect to pinning open the valves?
On NA engines, sometimes pinning open the valves, which reduces backpressure, may negatively affect performance.

With Turbo engines, the effects may be different. My guess is that this would possible improve turbo spinning at low rpm. But then Ferrari did a lot of tuning to reduce lag at low RPM, but closed valves were assumed to be baked into the package.

The Pista has addressed the weak exhaust music of the 488. I wonder how this was done?

Hi, One of the memeber here advised me on how to do it, so i went to someone who knows what he is doing, and followed the easy steps to open the valve which was 15min job.

I forgot the memeber name but all the credit to him: and here is a capture of what he said that i showed it to my mechanic:

(Will post his name once i find it)

Here is the suggestion from a nice person member “Joe_CT” here about the way it should be done. All the credits to him

After couple of days driving with the valve permanently open, I have not noticed any difference at all. The only difference i notice is when you star the car, the sound is loud and awesome. And at low RPM, you hear the exhaust sound same as when you are at race mode over 2500 RPM.

I think Ferrari modified the sound at low RPM due to Law regulation or something as there is no technical or logical reason behind that. Even my dealer told that almost all 488 owners opened their valve permanently (no switch or controller as it might void the warranty)

    Regards

Does anyone get a rattle coming from the rear view mirror at at very low RPMs?

Ever since i did this mod I get an intermittent rattle from rear view mirror that can be temporarily remidied by holding the mirror firmly against the windshield.

Other than that it sounds great, and I no longer have any desire for an aftermarket exhaust.

I did this on mine two weeks ago and my only regret is not doing this earlier. Had to buy a low profile ramp from True Value to have more access in removing the rear diffuser.

I also read somewhere here that pinning the vacuum lines for turbo cars is more beneficial.

On a 488 Spider, is it possible and/or how difficult is it to remove the rear diffuser by myself on the ground with no lift or ramps?

Not hard at all. Unlike the F8, no hidden fasteners.
