What does that license plate mean? One of 50 what?

Maybe they meant 1 of 55 in terms of US F50s, but got it wrong. ;) I agree though...it makes no sense.

That's Art Z.'s F50 and when I asked him about the plate, he told me, that he was originally told there would only be 50 US spec cars built in 1995.

Sucks that he had that happen to both his F50s (other being the GT that amenasce mentioned).

By the way, where is his F50 GT? I haven't seen photos of it out in public for quite some time. I'd love to see it in person...and if I ever get enough money #001 would be the first supercar I'd want. ;)

    Thank you for the clarification.

So Ferrari made 5 more than some people were told, no surprise there, if I were Art I'd keep the plate as a fun talking point: "they told me they were gonna make 50, but they made 55, oh well, I guess I'll survive, at least I got one!"

Given that he has an F50 and F50 GT, I would imagine he's not too broken up over it.

I recall when one of the 3 F50 GTs was sold by Ferrari SpA through Ferrari of Beverly Hills to my client Jim Spiro of New Orleans, and FORZA magazine compared Spiro's F50 GT with his road-going F50 @ Willow Springs raceway.

I love the F50 GT, fast, rare, beautiful, and they sound like one hundred thousand howling dogs from hell

It sits in this room with the other F50. I saw the car last in 2018, a few years earlier I was able to go for a short ride in the car, although it wasn't a high speed adventure, as you know there's only one seat. It was uncomfortable sitting on the bottom of the cage and trying not to actual sit on the electronics. It was still so cool. Luckily, I'm short enough to fit in the drivers seat.

The plate is still on the car. In fact the car has only been driven 300 miles since new, and at least according to Art, it's never had the roof on it. I've had a couple clients try to buy the car over the years but he never wanted to sell the car. Maybe one day.

That's amazing, Michael! I would buy tickets and fly there right now if I could just to see the GT. Congrats for having to drive my dream car and thank you for sharing the pics.

And just so the post isn't only text, I'm going to add a photo I took last year in the Czech republic.

I doubt that F50 will leave that family ever, good for him for keeping the plate!

They don't look bad, it's just that there is just one "Sonny Crockett" F50 in the world and I find it a little sad it's not completely stock...

I like that the white one has headlights cluster painted to match the rest of the body.
