Fantastic - thanks now it is easy to see the subtle (but now so obvious) difference. :)
^^^It appears that 911 safety stripes was a popular option in Japan from 1974-1976. Nice that Mitsuwa Motors also featured a Porsche Design Orfina chronograph in their ad. Another ad from the 4/74 Car Graphic magazine featured a Recaro sport seat w/ apt title – It’s Craftsmans Spirit. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Porsche Top 5 Series: The loudest Porsche models Surprising that the Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1 is this loud.
Another period photo of a 3-liter Turbo in Japan. The license plate's "33" designates a passenger car with displacement larger than 2000cc. Image Unavailable, Please Login
More period 3-liter Turbo items from Japan. The 1977 Turbo is equipped with a very cool Porsche “930 Turbo” license plate insert and the white 3-liter Turbo appears to be a 1976 model year based on the 15 inch Fuchs. The playing cars were produced in the supercar series that also featured 45 records with ’76 Turbo #9306700237 and various other supercars of the time. Don’t know if anyone remembers my 1976 930/935 Kremer thing but I was lucky enough to get it into the RM Sotheby’s event 12/8/18 at the Petersen Museum. I think there were 65 or so cars and mine came up very near the end. Just a few cars before the showcase car which was a 1956 Ferrari that sold for $22 mill. Anyway. A completely awesome experience and nothing but positives to say about the auction and the organizers. Avant Garde in Portland, OR put it all together for me. Thanks Matt / Josh ! https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/ca18/the-petersen-automotive-museum-auction/lots/r0075-1976-porsche-935-gr-5-turbo-by-kremer/730901 The man himself and his gal friend checking out my ride at the event before the auction. Evidently she’s the Bloomberg Auto Editor and this is her job lol. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Albert Blue 1976 Turbo Carrera, chassis # 9306800458, RM Sotheby’s, Amelia Island 2019. This Turbo Carrera has been discussed many times on this thread - last sold at CPR: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/142341807/ http://cprclassic.com/images/carsforsale/911/AlbertBlue76930Coupe/images.html Looks like the leather interior was replaced when last sold at CPR. Very cool carpet color and appears original. Dash pad has been replaced w/ a 77+ version (vent hole plugged) and it would be very interesting to know if a black dash pad was original with the interior to sample order. Per the 1976 and 1977 Porsche fact books, dash pads, window sills and rear shelfs were in black leather for light green, yellow and white. The fact books also show that if a customer ordered black leather dash pad, window sills and rear shelf with any other interior color, an interior to sample order was required. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am19/amelia-island/lots/r0056-1976-porsche-911-turbo-carrera/735464# Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

I should have caught this from Ryan's book - U.S. '76 Turbo Carrera, #0458 was ordered SAM-99 with gray interior with dashboard, knee pad, and rear shelf in black leather (albeit the original leather 1976 dash pad has been replaced).
1976 & 1977 Porsche Audi Fact Books I was finally able to find the 1976 and 1977 Porsche Audi Fact Books to my complete my 1970s g-series set of fact books. Unreal how difficult these have been to unearth. Don’t believe the BAT group think comparison of a low-mileage ’87 911 Turbo to a low-mileage '76/’77 Turbo Carrera or also the availability of 1970s Turbo Carrera literature to a late-80’s Turbo is the same (you can buy any of the ’86 to ’89 fact books any day on eBay). From 1974 to 1978, they used a compact 4 x 7 ½ inch black Porsche Audi six ring binder with color tabs. In 1979, the fact books changed to a paper 4 x 8 ½ inch version without tabs. The special leather and carpet materials (exhaustively detailed in Ryan’s book, e.g. page 219) did not show up in the fact books until the U.S. 1976 model year. I believe this was due to the special leather interior colors being introduced with the 1975 Turbos and were not available in the 1975 U.S. market. The special colors fact book selection did not change until the 1980 model year where in addition to white, yellow and light green, light red was added to the special colors required black leather for the dashboard, window sills, and rear shelf. The fact books also state that ordering other interior colors with black leather dashboard, window sills, and rear shelf would require 99 (SAM – to sample leather) although as Ryan points out in his book, for 1975 and 1976, all special leather colors option codes 91-97 were, “to sample leather, 99”, so it would be no-cost for different interior highlights for the 1975, 1976 Turbos, and 1976 Turbo Carreras. I have no idea why these early fact books are so rare. Perhaps they were more tightly controlled by the dealership or perhaps higher attrition rate with the 10 year difference in time to the 1980s fact books. These ’76 and ’77 fact books were issued to Al Wolff, Holbert’s Porsche Audi. Imagine going to Holbert’s in 1976 to pick the fitment of your new Turbo Carrera. Al would have his fact book for reference, but he may start you with the 1976 Porsche color book that only had the standard leather interior colors of black, copper red, and brown/beige. Unless a customer was specially ordering a car, this is likely the way vast majority of dealerships fit their Turbo Carreras (quick sales were most important). If a customer asked if other interiors available for the ’76 and ’77 Turbo Carreras, the fact books had the information available as well as the special interior color charts they undoubtedly also had in the back room. For 1976 Turbo Carreras, only ~13% were ordered with 99-SAM interiors. Even in 1975, the percentage was very low with only ~15% ordered with "to sample" leather interiors. Image Unavailable, Please Login Working on a early 76’ chassis where one of the options is M438 gold Porsche side stripe The strange thing is,that it is in combination whit M393 Turbo stripes black. Could M438 be this door sticker M439 in gold?
According to Ryan’s book, M438 was phased out in 1975 but could be ordered in 1976 as a “Z” request. Does your COA list M438?
